Choosing where to eat during your Disney World vacation can be daunting!

There are quite literally HUNDREDS of restaurants around the parks and resorts and Disney Springs, and each of them comes with its own unique menu and theme. Some places are fan favorites and often known for their delicious offerings, while others aren’t quite as beloved. But besides choosing a place with a lackluster menu, there’s another dining mistake that people are making!
Recently, we took a trip to Yak & Yeti Restaurant in Animal Kingdom. This restaurant is a table service spot located in the Asia section of the park, with plenty of indoor seating and a fairly solid menu that we’ve enjoyed several times.

But one of the most confusing things about the restaurant is its name. Why? Because next door to Yak & Yeti Restaurant is Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafes, its quick service counterpart. These are two completely different spots with different menus…and VERY different price brackets.

And this similarity in nomenclature is apparently causing some problems for a select group of people. During our recent visit to Yak & Yeti Restaurant, we found out that they’ve been having a recurring issue with guests using the wrong Disney Dining Plan.

Currently, there are two Disney Dining Plans available — the Standard and the Quick Service. With the Quick Service plan, you get two meals at quick service restaurants per day, and with the Standard, you get one quick service meal and one table service meal per day.

It seems that the problem at Yak & Yeti is that many people are now coming to the table service restaurant because they saw the first part of the name on the list of options for the Quick Service Dining Plan. These people will order their food, make it through the whole meal, and then get severely disappointed when it’s time to pay and their Dining Plan doesn’t work (you know, because they only have quick service credits to use).

So this is our warning — don’t make this mistake! There are actually quite a few restaurants in Disney World with similar names, so make sure you know EXACTLY where you’re dining before you try to use your Dining Plan there. When in doubt, clarify with your server ahead of time!
