We’ve shared all kinds of updates about the Brightline train in the past — from a first look at the Orlando Airport station to updates about the train’s path through Orlando and ticket pricing. Now, we know that the train will not be running on time — here’s what you need to know.

The Orlando Airport train, or the Brightline train, will run from Miami to Orlando (or Orlando to Miami, depending on where you start) making it easier for folks to visit Disney World. And now, the extension from South Florida to Orlando is finally complete. It was scheduled to begin September 1st, however it is now being delayed.

Brightline announced on August 7th that they will not be launching the service to Orlando as originally planned from September 1st-6th. If you had a ride booked during these dates, you should have received an email with rebooking options. According to WESH News, the delay comes during the “final stages of certification and crew testing.”.

This announcement comes after the news of the extension being completed in June. Currently, Brightline has a train line in Florida with stations in Aventura, Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and West Palm Beach. Orlando was set to be added to these cities.

While they have not stated when the train service to Orlando will start on Brightline’s website you can purchase a ticket for September 15th. Before this date, it says no trains are available.
