Universal Studios Orlando reopened just a few weeks ago, opening with limited capacity and health and safety precautions in place.

Despite operations resuming at the parks and hotels at Universal Orlando Resort, the company has recently made the decision to let go of a number of employees.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Universal made the decision to lay off an unknown number of employees today, just a few weeks after the parks reopened.

In a statement from Universal spokesman Tom Schroder, he explained, “We have made the difficult decision to reduce our parks and resorts workforce across multiple locations and business units.”

While Schroder would not provide the number of team members who were laid off, he said that “severance pay, severance pay, subsidized health benefits and professional reemployment assistance are being offered to the affected workers.” Schroder explained that, “This decision was not made lightly, but was necessary to prepare us for the future.”
Back in April, Universal Orlando cut many of its employees salaries by 20%, prior to furloughing part-time hourly workers starting in early May. Soon after, Universal announced that they would be delaying their planned third gate, Epic Universe.
