It’s become part of Disney folklore that the idea of Disneyland first came to Walt Disney while he was sitting on a bench watching his daughters enjoy a carousel sized for children and dreaming of a place where parents and kids could have fun together. While that story is partially apocryphal, Disneyland and all the theme parks it spawned were built with everyone in mind. From kids to parents to teenagers to Disney Adults to DINKS.

If you’re not familiar with the term DINK, it refers to a “Double Income, No Kids” household. Meaning a couple with two income streams, and no children. While some may scoff at the idea of a DINK couple heading to Disney World, the truth is there’s A LOT for them to do… as long as they know the rules to follow.
Take a Short-Term Weekend Getaway
Instead of planning a week-long, hit everything there is to hit trip, a DINK couple may have an easier time making a spur-of-the-moment quick trip to the resort for a weekend, perhaps during the holiday season or maybe during one of EPCOT’s festivals.

Take in EVERYTHING at EPCOT
Speaking of EPCOT, browse, shop, take pictures, read the plaques in the side exhibits, grab a cocktail or two… treat it like a true overseas sampler platter that you don’t have to rush through for any reason.

Enjoy a Romantic Dinner
Disney World offers PLENTY of options for a “fancy” romantic dinner across the property. If a DINK couple wants to go a step further, there are some major Walt Disney World age minimums. First up, there’s the MICHELIN-star awarded Victoria and Albert’s at the Grand Floridan Resort, which has long had an age requirement of 10 years of age. Meanwhile, Monsieur Paul in EPCOT’s France Pavilion features a dress code – “attire that adheres to the restaurant’s sophisticated and upscale aesthetic” – and requires that guests be AT LEAST 10 YEARS OLD, and the Japan Pavilion’s Takumi-Tei is slightly less strict, welcoming guests ages 8 AND ABOVE. If they visit one of the latter, they can nightcap at the park’s GEO-82 lounge, which is exclusively 21+.

Try Unique Food and Share So Each Person Can Try More
Speaking of food, spread out and try as many foods as possible, sharing dishes to get the most out of all of Walt Disney World’s culinary offerings.

Do a Couple’s Spa Day at Senses
Located at the Grand Floridian Resort, Senses is the only full-service spa operated directly by Disney. It is located inside the main building and runs as a closed, reservation-based facility. Guests check in at a dedicated desk, are assigned locker rooms, and move into a secured interior space that includes steam rooms, lounges, and private treatment corridors. Once you enter, you are no longer moving through public resort space. You remain inside the spa complex until your appointment block is finished.

Skip Rope Drop and Splurge on After Hours Tickets Instead
While it makes sense for a family with young kids to try and get into the parks as early as possible, an older childless couple can skip Early Entry and attempted rope drop if they so choose. Instead, they can purchase tickets for whichever park is hosting an After Hours event while on property. These events offer smaller crowds, smaller waits, and fewer kids.

Enjoy Disney World Beyond the Parks
Whether it’s a Monorail Crawl, checking out all the Skyliner Resorts, or experiencing everything Disney Springs has to offer, there’s plenty for a DINK couple to enjoy outside of Disney’s four theme parks.

Splurge on Lightning Lanes
Speaking of splurging, a DINK couple should definitely go all-in on Lightning Lanes… perhaps even looking at the vaunted Premier Pass. After all, there are only two people in their party.

Have FUN!
While we’ve named a litany of “adult” experiences, at its core Disney is always DInsey. A DINK couple that really wants to enjoy the Disney Magic of it all – including rides, character meals, meet & greets, souvenirs, etc. – should do so!
