WARNING: Changes Hit 3 Magic Kingdom Attractions TOMORROW

Disney World is changing a lot all at one time right now. If you’ve been going to the parks your entire life, just like we have, you’ll know this is probably some of the most unprecedented change we’ve seen in the park’s history.

Magic Kingdom

One of the biggest changes coming is the Cinderella Castle makeover!  The castle is going back to its classic color scheme, but that means that changes are coming to 3 Magic Kingdom attractions in the meantime.

Big things are on the horizon for Magic Kingdom! Cars Land is under construction, Villains Land is in development, and Cindy is getting a fresh paint job. The castle was painted pretty in pink for the park’s 50th anniversary celebration, but now it’s going back to its classic blue and grey color scheme.

We are super excited for this update, but like most changes, there will be some growing pains along the way. Disney has shared that the castle repainting will only take place in the mornings and that equipment will be out of the day by noon each day. If you’re looking for pretty castle pictures, we recommend waiting until the afternoon! Not only will it impact morning pictures, but it will also impact the three castle shows.

Goodbye, pink castle!

The first is the 8:55 AM  Let The Magic Begin welcome show. This show signals the official park opening each morning, and it has tons of familiar faces like Mickey, Minnie, some princesses, and more! This show will not be happening during the castle construction. That, of course, could change, so be sure to check your My Disney Experience App for all show times on the day of your trip. It’s a free and VERY useful tool.

The next show that’s impacted is Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire. This very popular show features Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, and Daisy, plus characters from Frozen, Tangled, and The Princess and the Frog! This show plays consistently throughout the day, but it will only be scheduled for 1:00 PM, 2:05 PM, 4:00 PM, and 5:15 PM. This, just like the other shows, is subject to change, especially in rainy weather.

The final castle show that is going to be slightly changed is the fireworks show, Happily Ever After. This very popular nighttime show will keep its 9 PM time slot, but the projections may need to be slightly changed during the painting. We aren’t exactly sure what those changes will look like just yet, but be prepared for some alterations.

If you’re worried about nighttime entertainment — don’t be! Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away is adding another showtime. The night parade has been running only at 7:45 PM, but it will now also be running at 10 PM. That’s right when the park closes, and it tends to be the less crowded of the two showtimes.

The castle repainting is expected to begin on January 28th, 2026, and is expected to be finished later in 2026. The castle’s last repainting took roughly 5 months, but it was during the park closures caused by COVID-19, so we can’t be sure if this time around will have the same timeline. We can’t wait to see the castle restored to its former glory and for our favorite shows to still be around in the meantime.
