If you have ever stayed at a Disney World hotel, you probably have a story.

Maybe it was a dream. Maybe it was chaos on wheels. Disney fans always have opinions about where they slept, how they slept, and whether they would ever sleep there again. So, of course, we had to ask you about it over on Facebook. You definitely had thoughts, and one response in particular stood out.
We recently asked our followers on Facebook: “We’re talking Disney World hotel stays! What was the best you ever had? What about the most nightmarish?” And honestly, you all delivered.

As we said, plenty of you shared a lot of thoughts, but there was one response from Danielle that really stood out.
She shared,
“The value resorts are the worst. So loud, packed, and tacky. Overstimulating on every level. Tiny rooms, paper thin walls. No real amenities and far from everything. Plus, if it rains you can’t use the skyliner.”
If you have ever stayed at one during a busy season, you may already be nodding along with her.

Disney’s five value resorts are Pop Century, Art of Animation, All-Star Movies, All-Star Sports, and All-Star Music. These are some of the most affordable options on property, and they are extremely popular with families, school groups, cheer teams, marching bands, and anyone looking to save a bit while staying in the magic. With that popularity comes energy. A lot of energy. Maybe too much energy.

Let’s break down the five hotels she is talking about and why some guests describe them as “overstimulating on every level.”
Pop Century is one of the most iconic value resorts because of its bold colors, massive decade-themed icons, and access to the Skyliner.

It is a fun atmosphere. It is also loud. Danielle mentioned tiny rooms and thin walls, and Pop Century is very much in that zone. The layout is motel style and when everyone is heading to the buses in the morning or returning from the parks at night, you hear it. When the pool is packed, you hear that too. It has a lot of charm, but quiet is not the selling point.

Art of Animation is known for its huge character statues, themed buildings, and family suites. Many families love it. It is also extremely high energy.

The Little Mermaid rooms can feel a bit crowded and noisy, and the pathways stay busy from sunup to sundown. When Danielle called the value resorts tacky, this is the type of over-the-top theming she was referring to. It is vibrant, colorful, and exciting, but if you are hoping for a calm retreat after a long park day, it may be a sensory overload.

All-Star Movies is filled with giant icons, bright colors, and nonstop activity.

School groups often book this resort, which can lead to a lot of noise at almost any hour. Danielle mentioned no real amenities, and that is the experience for many guests. The All-Star Resorts share buses, have basic food courts, and don’t offer the calmer spaces you might find at Moderate or Deluxe hotels.

All-Star Sports can be especially intense. Sports teams stay here constantly, and large groups bring late-night practices, early morning gatherings, and a lot of energy.

If you want a peaceful environment, this resort is not always it. Danielle’s point about feeling overstimulated on every level fits this hotel perfectly. Massive football helmets, giant surfboards, and crowds moving in every direction can make the whole area feel hectic.

All-Star Music tends to be the quietest of the three All-Stars, but “quiet” for a value resort is still not the same kind of quiet as moderates or deluxe resorts.

It also relies on the shared bus system and has the same motel-style layout. Danielle brought up distance, and this is another factor. The All-Stars are far from everything, which means longer bus rides and more time navigating crowds.

Danielle also mentioned the Skyliner. She said, “Plus, if it rains you can’t use the skyliner.” Anyone who has stayed at Pop Century or Art of Animation knows that weather delays can completely change your morning transportation plans. If the Skyliner shuts down, everyone heads to the buses at the same time. This instantly makes things feel more chaotic, which is already a theme at the value resorts.

She did share some positives about other hotels, too. She said,
“Deluxe stays have always been amazing. Fort Wilderness, Wilderness Lodge and Contemporary have all been amazing for different reasons. Since MK is the only park you cannot park your car right in front of, we like to stay near MK so we don’t have to drive or use a bus. We prefer our own car over the buses with small children and parking at the parks is free when you stay at Disney. In this phase of life walking to MK from the contemporary is our favorite perk! But theming at WL is better in the common areas. Contemporary has our favorite room set up though!”

So while she is not a fan of the value resorts, she clearly still loves staying on property. For her, the difference is comfort, convenience, and calm. For some families, the value resorts are perfect. For others, they are overwhelming and exhausting.

That is why we love hearing from you, because everyone’s experience is different. And now we want to hear even more from you!
In the meantime, stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney news!
Disney Fans Just Admitted They Are Hoarding an Extremely RARE Souvenir

Sorry, but we love AS Music. Nicely grown in landscaping, several quiet areas to enjoy a morning coffee, shaded play area for kids. Clean refurbished rooms, big pools with fun themes, decent food court and pool bar, helpful staff. The icons like the big boots and drum set are fun actually. While MK may be 15-20 minutes away, AK is a quick 7 minutes by bus or car, so not far from “everything.” There’s even a 24 hour McDonald’s right outside the AS Resorts gate.
