NEWS: Disney CLOSES Typhoon Lagoon Due to Weather

Were you hoping to hit one of Disney World’s water parks today? Probably not, considering we’re in a massive cold front, seeing some of the coldest temperatures this year, but hey, we know people come from all over the world, which is why a water park stays open pretty much year-round.

Typhoon Lagoon

Currently, Typhoon Lagoon is the only water park open in Disney World this time of year, but today has proved to be too cold for everyone. Yep, Typhoon Lagoon is CLOSED today.

When we checked the Disney World website this morning, we noticed that there were no hours listed for the water park. Sure enough, it’s closed today due to the cold weather.

Disney does all they can to avoid closing their water parks, but when it gets as cold as it is right now (it was in the 30s this morning with a wind chill making it feel closer to the 20s), it’s really the only choice.

Not only is this because it would be unsafe in a way for people to swim in cold water at this time of year when the temperatures drop so low, but since some of Disney’s lifeguards have to be in the water to do their jobs, that also wouldn’t be safe for them either.

At this time, Disney is showing that Typhoon Lagoon will be back open for its regular hours tomorrow, from 10 AM to 6 PM, as well as the rest of the week. However, if temperatures drop again, we may see those hours change on a dime.

If you’re heading to Disney World this time of year, we do recommend packing a jacket, even if it doesn’t look like it’ll be too cold. It can get windy at certain parts of Disney World, and you don’t want to be the person that has to buy a $70 jacket in the parks just because you forgot yours at home!

Disney has cute jackets, but they are expensive!
