Here at AllEars, we know all the ins and outs of Disney restaurants — including where you should definitely eat, and where you should skip. We recently stopped by Flying Fish at Disney’s BoardWalk and are bringing you our FULL review! Is this elevated seafood restaurant worth a stop? Let’s find out!

Background

You will find Flying Fish on Disney’s BoardWalk. It is right next to the AbracadaBar and across from Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs. It is a signature restaurant that focuses on premium, sustainably sourced seafood and oak-grilled steaks. Since this restaurant is a Disney Signature Dining experience, guests are expected to dress accordingly. You will want to wear attire that respects the restaurant’s “sophisticated and upscale aesthetic.”

Here’s what you need to know about dining at this restaurant.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere inside Flying Fish is upscale and swanky, yet not intimidating. It has a romantic and intimate setting, but it’s a bit on the louder side, and we have usually seen quite a few kids dining here with families.

Flying Fish

We think this restaurant is a good balance between signature dining and a more comfortable Disney dinner.

The interior is gorgeous. There are lush blues, metallic silvers, and lots of eye-catching details. One of our favorite details is the school of fish “flying” over the top of the dining area.

We love the fish!

There are also bubble chandeliers throughout the restaurant.

And, we had to mention that even the silverware is a hidden detail! The flatware has scales and a shape that make it look like a fish. So fun!

Even the silverware looks like fish!

The restaurant features an open kitchen.

As well as a gorgeous bar area.

But enough about that, what are we eating?!

Food & Drinks

To start our meal, we tried Flying Fish’s Bread Service. The bread service includes bread and butter. The butter is fantastic — it is ultra-creamy and has big flakes of salt and green onion. Our reporter even called this butter “life-changing,” so it is definitely doing something right.

Bread Service

The bread is soft on the inside and slightly crisp on the outside. It is served in thick slices, which is perfect for lathering with the delicious butter. The bread service definitely sets the right tone for the meal, and we can’t wait to dig into more!

Next up was the Fennel and Saffron Mussels for $20. This dish features smoked trout roe, chili oil, and chardonnay broth. We thought the presentation was wonderful and we couldn’t wait to taste it.

Fennel and Saffron Mussels

The mussels are served with a classic white wine and garlic-style broth, with the addition of a subtle fennel note. We thought the sauce was buttery and savory, and the fish roe added a good hint of saltiness to the dish.

Fennel and Saffron Mussels

We also tried the Filet Mignon for $62. This dish features truffle pain perdu, creamed romaine, and Flying Fish Steak sauce. We ordered our steak medium, and we thought it was cooked well. It was tender and juicy, with a smoky char that added a bit of crispiness to the edges.

Filet Mignon

The sauce was tangy and rich, with a little bit of sweetness. We would say it tastes as if A1 and an au poivre sauce had a baby. Overall, we thought this was a wonderful twist on steak and potatoes, and the elements were well-executed.

Continuing on with the Potato-wrapped Red Snapper for $60. It features leek fondue and a cassis-red wine reduction. The snapper is wrapped in thin potato slices and fried to a golden brown. The crispy potatoes give way to a delicate, meaty white fish.

Potato-wrapped Red Snapper

The fish was savory and buttery, and we didn’t detect any fishiness. The leek fondue and red wine reduction added some sweetness and earthiness to the dish. We have to say, we were super impressed with this dish and highly recommend it if you are looking for a delicious and unique take on an elevated fish dish.

Potato-wrapped Red Snapper

Finally, for dessert, we got the Lemonade Mousse for $14. It has elements of raspberry, lemon pound cake, and a white chocolate shell. The dessert looks like an actual lemon on the plate, which we thought was fun.

Lemonade Mousse

The ball has a tangy lemon mousse with raspberry coulis on the inside, surrounded by a crisp outer shell. The raspberry flavor is fresh and complements the tart lemon flavor. The base features a short-bread style cake with some ice cream on the side.

All the elements work very well together, and this dessert is definitely one of our favorite table-service desserts in Disney World. It is fresh, tart, and well-balanced, and a great way to end a delicious meal.

Magic or Tragic?

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

  • You are celebrating a special occasion. We think this would be a great spot to celebrate a special occasion. It is on the pricier side, but we think it is worth the price for a special night.
  • You want great service and a wonderful meal. The service was wonderful and the food was scrumptious. It was such a great experience, and a great choice if you can fit it into your budget.
  • You want an upscale dining experience that is close to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios. We love that you can walk here from EPCOT or Hollywood Studios, or take the boat. It is a great option for a break from the parks and enjoying a lovely meal.

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

  • You are on a tighter budget. Flying Fish is definitely more expensive than many restaurants in Disney World. We think the overall experience and food quality make the price worth it, but this may not be a good option if you are on a tight budget.
  • You want a quick meal. If you are heading to Flying Fish, we think you will want to have enough time to truly enjoy the meal. If you are trying to rush to get somewhere, we don’t think you will enjoy the experience as much.
  • You are looking for the most luxurious experience possible. Flying Fish is upscale and elevated, but if you are looking for the most luxurious experience in Disney World, you might want to consider Victoria & Albert’s.
