5 Changes Hit Disneyland Rides in 2026

Disneyland is changing so fast that it can be difficult to keep up. Fortunately, we’ve had plenty of practice, and we’re here to help get you up to speed on a bunch of changes happening to Disneyland rides in 2026!

Millennium Falcon

The Disneyland Resort is currently in the process of bringing at least FOUR NEW rides to the parks, and we can’t wait to see them realized in the next few years. In the meantime, Disneyland has current plans to modify existing rides, and we’re giving you the skinny on what those changes will entail.

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run

Some major changes are coming to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run on both coasts in 2026!

Starting May 22, 2026, new missions will be added to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu.

Starting May 22nd, 2026, the ride is getting brand new destinations, and the engineer will be the one to pick where you venture off to.

New missions will be added to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort featuring the Mandalorian and Grogu.

During the latest iteration of the attraction, you’ll be able to team up with the Mandalorian, Grogu, and Hondo to track down and explore new adventures.

Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!

Not all ride changes in 2025 will be happy ones. Unfortunately, we’ll be saying goodbye to Monsters, Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! in Disney California Adventure as the Hollywood Backlot gives way to a new Avatar-themed land.

The ride is set to close PERMANENTLY in early 2026 as construction for the new Avatar experience — including a highly anticipated thrilling boat ride — begins.

The Monsters, Inc. ride often has a decent wait, meaning other dark rides in Disney California Adventure could end up having longer waits as a result of the ride no longer existing.

Toy Story Midway Mania!

Staying in California Adventure, Toy Story Midway Mania! got some fun theming for the resort’s 70th Anniversary Celebration, but 2026 will bring about some changes.

The ride currently offers some fun 70th-themed targets, which will likely be removed when the celebration ends later in 2026.

Autopia

In 2024, it was revealed that Disneyland’s Autopia would convert its gas-powered vehicles into fully electric ones.

The change is supposed to happen completely by Fall 2026, but the company has been silent on the matter recently, and we’re not 100% certain that this deadline will be met. We’ll keep you posted when more updates are released.

Ride Rules

It’s possible that more ride rules will be implemented in 2026.

Ride rules

We’ve already seen this happen with Disneyland’s Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which now requires guests to secure loose items such as phones, glasses, water bottles, and Mickey/Minnie ears BEFORE boarding. It’s likely that similar rules pop up at other thrill rides across both parks.

Other Rides

We also expect minor upgrades to pop up now and then. Disneyland, over the past few years, has been tossing in ride enhancements, such as the collapsing hallway in Indiana Jones Adventure, the new attic scene in Haunted Mansion, and the little Coco scene in “it’s a small world”.

The resort is really great at finding new ways to keep its attractions fresh, and we expect some announcements to be made next year that are akin to these kinds of changes.
