Universal Orlando has reopened Stardust Racers in Epic Universe after the recent death of a rider.

The ride reopened today, October 4th. This is the first time the ride has been running since the death of a rider on September 17th. Along with the ride’s reopening, Universal has changed some of the rules for those who wish to ride the roller coaster.
A new rule has been posted for Stardust Racers for guests who use mobility devices. The new rule states: “This attraction has a device to assist you with your transfer to the ride vehicle. Please see an Attractions Attendant for more information. Guests using mobility devices must be able to walk independently.” The last line is an update to this policy, meaning that guests who use mobility devices cannot ride Stardust Racers if they cannot walk independently.

This rule also applies to Dragon Racer’s Rally in How To Train Your Dragon — Isle of Berk and Monsters Unchained in Dark Universe.

Stardust Racers also currently has the following specific rules:
- You must be able to independently: (1) maintain an upright
position, (2) support your torso, neck, and head while absorbing
sudden and dramatic movements, and (3) brace your body with
at least one natural upper extremity. - When seated, both natural legs must, at minimum, terminate
below the ankle. No prosthetic limbs

Universal had previously said that it would be updating its “operational procedures” for rides and include signs to alert riders of “physical eligibility requirements.” So all riders should know about these updates to the rules for riding Stardust Racers.
Although the ride has reopened, the Orange County Sheriff’s office has stated that the investigation of the rider’s death remains open. Check back with AllEars for more as details about that investigation begin to emerge.
