Have you ever eaten at a Disney World restaurant and found yourself struggling to decide what to choose for dessert? Yeah, me too. And if you’ve ever found yourself super torn on what is the absolute best out of all the dishes one of our favorite restaurants has to offer, we’re tackling them all at the same time to tell you which deserves the top spot in our ranking.

Here at AllEars, we know all the ins and outs of Disney restaurants — including where you should definitely eat, and where you should skip. We recently stopped by Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ in Disney Springs to try out their delicious desserts and are bringing you our FULL review!
Background
Celebrity Chef Art Smith has crafted his culinary career and built his brand of Florida-inspired cuisine as a true southerner and Florida native. And his fan-favorite restaurant, Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin‘, calls Disney Springs home.

Here, you can expect to dine on farm-to-fork cuisine that showcases the bounty of Florida, and design inspired by turn-of-the century Florida architecture of the late 1800s. Homecoming offers traditional Southern favorites with sophisticated, chef-inspired creations.

Here’s what you need to know about dining at this restaurant.
Atmosphere
The “rustic-chic” influence you’ll find throughout the restaurant features a glass-walled show kitchen.

There’s also the Southern Shine Bar that celebrates an era where characters might have created some homegrown spirits on their homesteads just beyond the springs. The bar features whimsical cocktails, punches, and coolers, including some made with now-legal variations of moonshine.

There’s seating both indoors…

…and outside for whichever kinda sittin’ you prefer to do here.

But enough about that, what are we eating?!
Food & Drinks
We were in a dessert mood on this trip, so we decided to grab a lot of the different sweet treats you can get here. First up, we grabbed the Hot Fudge Bourbon Brownie for $14. This is made of a dark chocolate brownie garnished tableside with our warm bourbon chocolate sauce.

This is a MASSIVE brownie that’s been cut in half, and while it’s a fudge brownie, it still has a cake-like consistency that we loved. It’s bouncy, moist, and the vanilla bean ice cream it’s served with is incredible too. It’s also served with a side of caramel sauce and candied pecans.

The pecans added a fantastic crunch to the dish, but the caramel really took things above and beyond. You can taste the slight bourbon in the brownie, but it’s not so prominent that non-drinkers or those who dislike bourbon would avoid this treat. We can’t recommend this one enough!

We also grabbed the Signature Sampler for $24. This is actually a pretty decent deal as you’ll get a petite serving of several of the restaurant’s Hummingbird Cake, Chocolate Pecan Pie, and Carrot Cake, all served up with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.

The Hummingbird Cake is available by itself, as well as on the sampler platter. This is a pretty dense piece of cake with a thick cream cheese frosting that coats your mouth in the best way. We loved that we could taste the pineapple so clearly, and adored the layer of cinnamon inside the cake.

If you’re looking for something that tastes homemade in the best way, like it was baked right in your kitchen or your best friend’s kitchen, this is a fantastic dessert to choose!

Next up was the Chocolate Pecan Pie, which can also be bought separately if you don’t want the whole sampler platter. This is a very sweet piece of pie that’s almost gelatinous, but it’s very moist as well. The chocolate flavor comes through very strongly, and while we loved the candied pecans on top, we would have loved to see it mixed into the pie more instead of just being on top.

The whole piece of pie is sitting on a bed of cocoa powder, which was a great surprise! If you’re a pie fan and if you especially love the mix of chocolate and pecan flavors, this will be a fantastic choice for you.

Finally, it was time for the Shine Cake, which is a bundt-style cake that tastes like angel food with moonshine added into it. The blueberries served on the side were delicious, and they were tossed in some kind of syrup that made them even sweeter, which we loved.

The cake itself was beautifully fluffy and light, and it tasted incredible; however, this is an adults-only option due to the moonshine. We’d boil this down to being an alcoholic angel food cake, but if that’s your jam, you’ll absolutely love it. We highly recommend!

Overall, we loved the deal of getting three desserts for the price of one, but if you’re under the age of 21 or don’t drink and aren’t sharing with someone, this won’t be the way to go, since you’ll have an entire dessert you can’t have.
Magic or Tragic?
This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…
- You love desserts!
- You’re a big fan of Southern-style comforting desserts
- You’re spending time in Disney Springs and never turn down a dessert menu
You should skip this Disney World spot if…
- You’re not a dessert person
- You prefer much lighter desserts, or ones that are a mix of savory and sweet
- You’re under 21 or aren’t a fan of desserts with alcohol in them (especially if you’re eying the sampler)
Homecomin' Restaurant
Services: Table Service
We do feel this restaurant does a great job of having something for everyone when it comes to desserts, as children do have a special dessert on the menu just for them called Doughnuts and Ice Cream, but those under 21 are allowed to have 3/4 of the adult desserts as well.

In the meantime, we’ll be on the lookout for more restaurant updates from Disney World and beyond. Make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for the latest Disney news and more!
