NEWS: Universal Releases NEW Title for ‘Super Mario Bros.’ Sequel, and Nintendo Fans Are Over the Moon

Universal has confirmed the title of its highly anticipated upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie — which takes its name from the successful 2007 entry in the video game franchise — is scheduled for release on April 3rd, 2026.

The film’s title was announced during a Nintendo Direct event celebrating the 40th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. video game. The event also debuted a short teaser for the film, which begins with a napping Mario, before following a butterfly past Princess Peach’s castle and into space, revealing the title.

This movie follows the 2023 Super Mario Bros. Movie, which broke box office records, becoming the highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time, and one of the highest-grossing animated films of all time, with a gross of over $1.36 billion.

Mario and Luigi

Cast members Chris Pratt (Mario), Anya Taylor-Joy (Princess Peach), Charlie Day (Luigi), Jack Black (Bowser), Keegan-Michael Key (Toad), and Kevin Michael Richardson (Kamek) are all returning for the sequel.
