HUGE Construction CHANGE Arrives at Disney World’s Most Iconic Hotel Pool

Lots of construction work is going on in Disney World right now.

Testing at Big Thunder Mountain Raiload

Astro Orbiter is being reinstalled in Magic Kingdom, not to mention that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is still undergoing its (at least) year-long refurbishment, and Disney is getting ready to begin work on its new Monstropolis land in Hollywood Studios, which will replace Muppets Courtyard. Believe it or not, that’s just naming a few! Disney has also been working on refurbishing one of the best pools on property — Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, and a MASSIVE update has just occurred!

Stormalong Bay closed in January 2025 for refurbishment, but there’s been no reopening timeline other than June 2025. Back in February, we noticed that all the water had been drained from the pool.

Construction from February

We noticed the same all the way through April, but it was clear crews were still hard at work fixing the pool and making sure it’d be ready for guests when it opened again.

It’s empty!

However, the project has now taken a BIG step back towards opening, because there’s finally water in the pool once again!

The water is back!

There’s still lots of scaffolding around the area, indicating there’s likely a decent amount of work left to be done, but it appears the actual pool itself is close to being ready for visitors again.

Lots of work still being done

We’re crossing our fingers that this progress means the pool will be ready for reopening by the middle of June, but as long as it doesn’t get pushed back from that month as a whole, we’ll be happy as a clam!

Looking great!

Remember that if you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, you have free water park admission on your check-in day! So if you’re missing this pool, not to worry — there’s a whole water park you can explore on day one to make up for some of it, and there are other leisure pools located around the resort as well.
