6 NEW Disney World Changes Start Next Month

Disney World is in a period of change, and that’s reflected in the resort’s June 2025 calendar.

Let’s go to Disney World!

Some longtime, beloved classics are shutting their doors forever, while a highly anticipated dining experience is set to open its doors.

Bidding Adieu to Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo

June 7th will be the final day of operation for the two anchors of the Hollywood Studios area formerly known as Muppet Courtyard: Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo.

Muppets Courtyard

The beloved 3D film, the final project ever worked on by late Muppets creator Jim Henson has been a stable at the park since opening in 1991. In fact at one point, the film was supposed to be the centerpiece of a full Muppets land.

PizzeRizzo was added in 2016, finally fulfilling – – at least partially – – the longtime promise of a Muppet-themed restaurant.

While the closure of these two Muppets-themed destinations to make room for the park’s new Monsters, Inc. land is a blow to fans of classic Hollywood Studios, the characters will be migrating across the park to take over the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster.

Shula’s Shutters

Shula’s Steakhouse, the eatery located at the Walt Disney World Dolphin 6/3Hotel, is set to close on June 14th. The restaurant, named for legendary Miami Dolphins coach Jim Shula had become a fan-favorite over three decades in operation.

Shula’s Steakhouse will be replaced by Bourbon and Steak, part of a chain owned by celebrity chef Michael Mina. The restaurant describes itself as“a tribute to the classic American steakhouse” with a menu that includes “prime cuts of beef, fresh seafood, and an extensive selection of wines and spirits, including rare and vintage bourbon selections,” made with locally sourced ingredients.

GEO-82 Debuts at EPCOT

From closures to an opening, June 4th will see the opening of GEO-82 at EPCOT. Located at the back of Spaceship Earth, this highly anticipated new 21+ lounge is going to be “a sophisticated hideaway nestled within the iconic geodesic sphere” where guests will “experience global flavors blended with culinary artistry in classic cocktails and small plates” according to Disney.

Finally, an honorable mention. Just days before the calendar flips to June, Disney World will see the opening of not one, but TWO new shows at Hollywood Studios. On May 27th, both The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure AND Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After will premiere at the park.

The former, an update of the classic Voyage of the Little Mermaid show, will use “lively puppets, props, digital puppetry and jaw-dropping effects” to tell an abridged version of the film’s story, including performances of “Kiss the Girl”, “Daughters of Triton.” “Part of Your World”, “Under the Sea”, and “Poor Unfortunate Souls”. This show will be available as part of the Lightning Lane service, and may affect how you plan your Lightning Lane schedule.

The latter is a “spellbinding show with moving music and a most memorable finale—where you help decide who has been treated most unfairly” located in the former home of Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy.
