The Disney Skyliner is one of the more unique ways to get around Disney World. It’s also a Disney World attraction you can ride for free!

Now don’t get us wrong, Disney has an amazing transportation system that also includes the Monorail, boats, and buses. But the Skyliner literally gives you a bird’s eye view of Disney World because you’re soaring high above everything. However, if you ARE planning on using the Skyliner, there are some things you should NOT do.
If you’re looking for a travel agent to help with your vacation, we recommend our friends at Mouse Fan Travel. They’re experts in the field with over 20 years of vacation planning experience, and they can help take a bunch of the stress out of the entire booking process for you!
Standing up
Like any other Disney World ride, Cast Members will instruct you to stay seated in your gondola during your Skyliner journey. So if you stand up, you’re basically disobeying the rules. Don’t be that person.

You can get a perfectly good view of Disney World from a seated position. There’s no need to stand.
Complaining
We see people complain often about two specific things when it comes to the Skyliner. First, people complain when the weather closes the Skyliner. This is for your safety and Disney provides bus transportation when it’s closed. Disney will not change its Skyliner weather policy for you.

Another complaint we hear often is about sitting with other people. The Skyliner isn’t your own personal Disney World transportation. You will have to sit with other people in the gondola just like you have to sit with other people on buses, boats, and the Monorail.
Panicking
Okay, we get not wanting to use the Skyliner if you’re afraid of heights, but if you’re generally worried about your personal safety and are panicking, you don’t need to do that.

The Skyliner is safe. Disney would not operate it if it were not because Disney does not want to get sued by people hurt on its transportation. Trust us…you’ll be okay.
Only using one lane when both are in use
If there is more than one lane to hop on the Skyliner gondolas, don’t just use one lane. In fact, you could save some time by choosing a shorter lane.

We also have to tell you NOT to use the lanes specified for handicapped access unless you are using a wheelchair.
Sitting on the floor
If you find that you have the urge to sit on the floor of the Skyliner, just don’t. More than likely, your kids might want to do this, but keep them on the bench. First, it’s against the rules.

Second, it’s gross. People’s feet have been all over that floor and it’s probably unsanitary.
Making a mess
Please do not leave a mess in the Skyliner. Don’t throw your trash on the floor and be careful if you’re taking food and drinks in the gondola. Cast Members will have to stop the Skyliner to clean those messes up, which means you’re creating a problem for them and other passengers.

Leave the gondola the same way that you found it.
Riding the Skyliner is a lot of fun, but don’t forget that just like any other ride in Disney World, it has rules — and they’re for your safety, as are Cast Members enforcing those rules.

One thing you SHOULD do. If the audio isn’t working inside your gondola, make note of the gondola number (on the wall at the door) and notify the cast member when you exit. They will be grateful and have that gondola pulled for maintenance at the first available moment.
Personally I love meeting others on the skyliner. They are usually very happy and you never know what kind of connection you could form. You could learn a new secret about the parks, make a friend for a day (or longer, if they happen to be local to your home!) Or even meet the love of your life. How romantic would it be to be able to tell the story of first meeting your spouse of 25 years on the Disney skyliner!
