If you’re heading to Disneyland soon, it’s important to know that changes are coming to a popular attraction this upcoming week!

Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most iconic and sought-after attractions in the park, and because of that, it often gets pretty long lines. However, those lines will likely be LONGER this weekend for one big reason.
Pirates of the Caribbean is located in New Orleans Square, one of the smaller areas of Disneyland Park, and many people choose to book a Lightning Lane (available through Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Lightning Lane Premier Pass) for this attraction to skip the (often) long wait.

This weekend, though, and through Monday, April 14th, Pirates of the Caribbean will be available via the standby line only!

The attraction is listed as”not currently offered” in the Lightning Lane section of the Disneyland app.

Pirates of the Caribbean has been listed as a temporary Lightning Lane since the beginning of January 2024. The attraction is still listed as such on the Disneyland website.

Disney hasn’t announced any further details about its decision to temporarily remove the Lighting Lane from this attraction. Still, some Disneyland fans would prefer if Disney removed the Lightning Lane entirely, while others are more hesitant about the potential change.

Good! Pirates has no need for lightning lane. While Pirates lines can sometimes look pretty intimidating due to the length of the line, Pirates is a fast loading attraction, and the line moves fast.
Of course, no attraction should have lightning lane. Lightning lane just serves to make the stand by line move even slower because lightning lane cuts in front on the stand by lane.
What if they do away with the stand by lane altogether? Make every attraction only lightning lane! Then it will be fair to everyone making the lines move equally same speed, and Disney will get the extra money they want.
Disney originally said the Lightning Lane for POC was temporary because both Haunted Mansion and Tiana’s were down. However, they never removed it when those two rides came back. POC doesn’t need a Lightning Lane in my opinion. It has a great throughput.
