WARNING: This Animal Kingdom Shortcut Is Temporarily CLOSED in Disney World

One of our favorite Animal Kingdom shortcut paths is currently closed due to a major construction project.

On a recent trip to the park, we noticed that some of the paths surrounding the park’s Tree of Life — specifically those heading towards the Asia section of the park — are currently blocked off, and we think we know why. There’s a new show called Zootopia: Better Zoogether coming soon to Animal Kingdom, and it will live inside the Tree of Life. Here’s what we know.

The new Zootopia show, which is replacing the recently shuttered opening-day attraction, It’s Tough to Be a Bug, is currently being installed in the Tree of Life’s theater.

This has led to construction walls blocking several paths…

… with construction walls and signage calling out to another Pixar classic that tackled the natural world (We love a Dory quote!).

Additionally, there are some camouflaged materials in the area that could be related to the project near the show’s closed-off queue area.

Zootopia: Better Zoogether is scheduled to open sometime this year and will “herd the whole family together to join Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde and more for a new wild adventure,” according to Disney. The attraction is part of a much larger transformation of Animal Kingdom that will see the new Tropical Americas land — featuring rides based on the Indiana Jones franchise and Encanto – replace DinoLand U.S.A. over the next several years.

A new show inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios film “Zootopia” will debut next winter in Discovery Island at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
