REVIEW: We Went Against Our Own Advice and Ate a $14 Burger in Magic Kingdom. BIG Mistake!

When it comes to quick service meals, it’s hard to find a really good spot in Magic Kingdom, especially now that Sleepy Hollow Refreshments has changed up its menu.

Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe

If we’re looking for a quick lunch in Magic Kingdom, we’ll usually just grab some Cheeseburger Spring Rolls or hit up Columbia Harbour House. However, we just recently ignored our own advice and reviews and picked up a burger at a spot we generally avoid: Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe.

Yep, we typically tell you to avoid the burgers at Cosmic Ray’s, but we thought we’d be contrary and see if anything had changed since the last time we’d had a burger there. But we’ll just tell you now, ahead of this review, that the only reason you really want to visit Cosmic Ray’s is to see Sonny Eclipse in action.

The ONLY reason to visit Cosmic Ray’s

We ordered the 1/3 lb Angus Bacon Cheeseburger. This is a Flame-broiled 1/3 lb Angus Burger topped with Bacon, American Cheese, and Sonny Eclipse Signature Sauce on a Brioche Bun served with French Fries for $13.99. First, kudos to the service because it was FAST when we visited. We used Mobile Order and we had a notification that our order was ready almost RIGHT after we checked in. So if you want a fast meal, this is a great spot for that.

Okay, so on to the Angus Bacon Cheeseburger. So, we knew what to expect, and it was…well, it was okay. We’re talking middle of the road, but not anywhere close to the best burger we’ve had in Disney World. We’ll also say that the meal as a whole is filling, and for $14, that’s a pretty good deal. It’s familiar, and picky eaters will probably be fine with it.

Full meal

The bacon pieces were crunchy but not crisp (they were still flexible and a little chewy). So again, not IDEAL, but not bad. The cheese was also melted well. The patty was well done (and if that’s not your thing, you don’t really have a choice).

It’s okay

You get your burger toppings on the side so you can fix it up the way you like. The fries are your standard Disney fries, which ain’t half bad either.

Toppings

Overall, it’s a decent meal at a good price. However, we won’t be craving this burger anytime soon and there are far better burgers to be found in Disney World. But if you’re in a hurry with hungry kids or hungry picky eaters, this could be just the burger you’re looking for.
