We are closely monitoring the status of Hurricane Milton as it prepares to make landfall in Florida later this week.

It was announced on October 7th that Orlando International Airport (MCO) will cease operations due to the hurricane, which is now a Category 4, but is expected to weaken to Category 3 before hitting land. Disney World has updated its hotel cancelation policy ahead of the storm as well, and now we have more updates on hotel closures affecting Disney World later this week.
Disney has just sent out an update to travel agents who work with clients heading to Disney World with the following information. They stated that they are “closely monitoring the path of the projected storm, and the safety of our Guests and Cast Members remains our top priority. Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions and will continue to be on Tuesday, October 8th.” However, they have announced changes to the resort in the days upcoming due to the storm.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, the Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will temporarily close beginning at 11AM on Wednesday, October 9th.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are likely to remain closed until Sunday, October 13th, while The Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will likely reopen on Friday, October 11th. However, these reopening plans are tentative, as it will depend on any damage from the storm.

If you’ve got a stay booked at one of these resorts during this time, we encourage calling Disney at (407) 939-5277 ASAP to inquire what options you have. Again, Disney has adjusted their hotel cancelation policy due to the storm, but Disney may also offer to move you to a safer hotel during your stay instead. If you’re already in Disney World and are staying at one of these hotels, please talk with the Cast Members at your hotel about your options.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated with all the latest Disney World updates, so stay tuned to AllEars.

We drive from AL on the 13 for our trip. Hoping the damage isn’t too bad and we can still go. Not sure if or when we should think about rescheduling.
Been at Epcot all day. Cloudy and a bit of rain today (Monday). Crowds are much lighter than usual.
