These Disney souvenirs might be going extinct.

Earlier this year at the 2024 D23 Ultimate Fan Event, it was confirmed that the entirety of DinoLand U.S.A. was being closed to make way for the Tropical Americas reimagining/expansion at Animal Kingdom. Construction is set to begin sometime in fall 2024. While the headline losses of this closure are rides Dinosaur and TriceraTop Spin, there’s something smaller that may also disappear.
Initially, Disney World’s various lands each offered specialty souvenirs that were only available within those lands. However, over the years the amount of unique keepsakes has gone down, with stock becoming relatively homogenized across the board. This makes it all the more distressing that some very unique souvenirs available in DinoLand may have their days numbered.
In the land’s Chester & Hester’s Diorama area, a series of carnival-style games are still currently active. While debates can — and have among many Disney aficionados — been had as to whether these types of games “belong” in a Disney park, there’s something special about these particular offerings.

The games in DinoLand offer special unique prizes that aren’t available anywhere else, even for purchase. These include plushes based on two of the land’s iconic dinosaurs, as well as Mickey and Minnie both in exclusive DinoLand U.S.A. outfits.

If you want to get your hands on one, however, you may need to act fast. According to several Cast Members we spoke to — including a few who wanted to win the prizes themselves — right now it’s unclear if Disney is going to order any more of these specialty prizes, or simply replace them with generic stock once they run out.

On top of that, according to Disney’s own timeline, construction in the area is scheduled to begin at the end by the end of the year, and it’s unclear as to where the closure of these carnival games fits into that. So even if Disney does restock them, their days of availability are still dwindling.

In addition to the plush prizes, there are also several other unique souvenirs in the land — and these ones can be purchased as opposed to needing to be won in a game — including a special photo booth, dog tags, and pressed pennies.

We’re not sure how much longer these unique plush prizes will be available at Animal Kingdom, so if you want to get your hands on them, we’d recommend getting to DinoLand U.S.A. ASAP. Stay tuned to AllEars for further Disney World updates.
