All the Broadway-Style Stage Shows You Can See Aboard the Disney Magic

Disney Cruise Line is known for their world-class Broadway-style stage shows.

The Disney Magic docked at Lookout Cay

We recently sailed aboard the Disney Magic and got to experience all three of the stage shows on board. Each of the current Disney Cruise Line ships has three different stage shows that are performed throughout your voyage. Some ships have shows that are unique to just their ship!

Passengers can head to the Walt Disney Theater, which is located on deck four forward aboard the Disney Magic. Your showtime is opposite your dining time, so if you have the early seating (normally 5:45PM), you would attend your showtime, which is around 8PM. If you have the late seating (normally 8:15PM), you would attend the 6PM showtime. Showtimes do fluctuate by about 15 minutes, depending on the duration of the show, so make sure to stay tuned to the Disney Cruise Line Personal Navigator app!

While aboard the Magic, we enjoyed Tangled: The Musical, which can only be seen on the Magic, and Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story, which is also only currently performed on the Magic. On our last night, we saw Disney Dreams: An Enchanted Classic. This show is also performed on the Disney Wonder, but scenes may vary. No photos are allowed during the performance, but we will tell you what we thought!

Tangled: The Musical

Since the Magic has Rapunzel’s Royal Table, it is fitting that Tangled: The Musical can be seen on board. This Broadway-style show is based off of the 2010 Walt Disney Animation Studios feature film Tangled.

Hey, Rapunzel!

We LOVED this show! This was a retelling of the movie, but we found it to be super sweet. The actress who played Mother Glothel during our cruise was incredible.

It was full of our favorite songs from Tangled, and we can’t lie. We did shed a tear. They used a puppet for Maximus during the performance, and it was very fun, and the crowd enjoyed it.

Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story

Next up was Twice Charmed: An Original Twist on the Cinderella Story, and this show picks up right where the movie left off as it continues Cinderella’s story.

This was undoubtedly our favorite. It was insane and felt so silly and crazy. We could tell it took some inspiration from Cinderella 3, A Twist in Time, but it was not fully that movie either.

In this story, there is an evil Fairy Godfather. Even Gus Gus and Jaq become human-sized at one point during the show. This might not be to everyone’s taste, but we think that everyone should go and see it! It was weird, but in a good way that makes us want to watch it over and over again.

In a Disney Cruise Line tradition, the last night usually ends with a show that is meant to leave you with a kiss goodnight. On the Magic that show is Disney Dreams: An Enchanted Classic. This show is an original show, aboard the Magic, which debuted in 1998 but has been updated a few times. This. The show features characters from Disney movies such as Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, and The Lion King, all to teach the main character, Ann Marie, about the power of her dreams.

We felt that this was a very sweet wrap-up of the shows. It was also sweet to see Peter Pan teach Ann Marie how to fly, but we do not feel that this is one of Disney Cruise Line’s best shows. It was exciting to see all our favorite Disney characters, but it does not compare to Disney’s Believe, which can be seen on the final night of sailing aboard the Disney Dream and the Disney Fantasy. Overall, this show is fun to sing along to, but it is not a must.

We really enjoy seeing Broadway-style shows at sea, especially when they integrate elements from some of our favorite Disney stories!
