Disney souvenirs are a MASSIVE draw while you’re on vacation, which also means it can be a little hard to stay on budget!
Personally, I’m not a huge souvenir person, but I’m a SUCKER for the mystery Munchlings, Disney Doorables, and stuffed animals in general (especially Eeyore stuffed animals, I’m a GONER) so I can easily be influenced. But I do feel there’s one CHEAP souvenir that’s completely overlooked and underrated that I need to hear more hype about — pressed pennies!
Pressed Pennies can be found ALL OVER Disney World Resort — in the parks and in the hotels! And the best part? They’re ALL different!
My first trip I took as an adult in 2021, I decided during my trip to collect all the Pressed Pennies I possibly could, which ended up being 86 pennies!
Some of these machines only have 3 different pennies. You can grab all 3 pennies for $3, or one penny for $1.
However, other machines have up to 8 different designs! You can grab all 8 for just $5, or grab them individually for $1 each.
This meant that I ended up spending around $40-$50 on 86 different pennies from ALL around the resort, instead of just using that money on one souvenir.
But these pennies don’t stay the same! Every year they’ll switch out, and sometimes even more often. This means that if you go different years, you can continue to get NEW designs.
But what do you do with all these Pressed Pennies? Well, one of my coworkers hot glued theirs to a frame and put one of their photos from Disney World inside of it, which is a great idea, but I personally bought a little Pressed Penny Collection booklet to display them in!
I grabbed this booklet from Etsy a few years ago, and have found it to be the perfect way to display my coins from that trip. I still have 3 empty pages in it that I could use for future trips, which means that this small booklet can hold up to 120 pennies!
There are plenty of other booklets you can find online that hold less or more, all with adorable Disney designs, or you can make your own if you’re feeling crafty!
Mine also came with a helpful booklet telling me what pennies were known to be around the resort during that year, but this can go out of date pretty quickly!
And on the back of the booklet, it told me how many machines there were all over the park and how many Pressed Pennies there were all together. I should have bought the booklet before my trip, so I would have known where to look!
Now, I have seen Pressed Penny booklets in some Disney World gift shops, so if you want to grab one on your trip, keep your eyes peeled or ask a Cast Member, and you should be able to find one.

Somewhat disappointed that they aren’t the old supply-your-own-penny hand cranked ones anymore. When we would find a new penny, we would out it aside and hype up how great a pressed penny it would make. Now since the machines supply their own, we can’t do that anymore.
Oh my gosh, that’s so cool! I would have loved to do that too — I wish they had kept some of them!
