We’ve been thinking a lot about all the things that we really love to do around Magic Kingdom at Disney World.
Between all of the character meet and greets, cavalcades and parades, rides, shows, and nightly fireworks, you’d think we couldn’t ask for more. But we have thoughts. We think there’s one BIG change possible that could make our trip to Magic Kingdom ten times better!
Magic Kingdom is usually “the” park that defines your Disney World trip. We’ve actually heard a few people mistakenly reference the park as “Disney World” before. Getting to walk through Main Street, U.S.A., smell the freshly popped buttery popcorn, and step right up to Cinderella Castle just somehow can make the rest of your world’s cares fade away if only for a day.
There’s indeed a lot more to see, do, and experience here at this park compared to the other 3 theme parks that make up Disney World, but if you ask us… it could be better. We’ve gone back and forth on what exactly could make Magic Kingdom that much better. We even tossed around a few ideas including more food locations and variety (but then quickly remembered we’re expecting a new Pirates of the Caribbean lounge coming soon.) Finally… we settled on something we all could agree on!
We won’t take a full trip down memory lane but “once upon a time” (see what we did there?), there used to be a nighttime parade that filled the night sky with shimmering lights, colorful displays, and of course, several of your Disney pals.
Disney’s Main Street Electrical Parade hasn’t been part of Disney World since October of 2016 when it reached the end of its historic run. After it was discontinued at Magic Kingdom, the parade was later brought back to Disneyland for a limited-time encore engagement.
Most recently, we’ve seen the Main Street Electrical Parade return to Disneyland for a limited time in 2022, however, it has once again been retired. Rumors swirled for a while of the parade’s possible return to Disney World, especially when we spotted a brand new merch collection in the parks. However, Disney never confirmed this change.
Throughout the history of nighttime parades at Disney World, we’ve seen the Main Street Electrical Parade come and go several times, and even change to SpectroMagic, but something about having that extra nighttime entertainment really filled the void that seems to be there now. Don’t get us wrong, we absolutely love having nightly fireworks (especially a show as great as Happily Ever After), but if you were of the Disney generations that grew up seeing this parade (or even SpectroMagic) coming down Main Street, it can be a bit of a disappointment to realize it’s no longer offered.

Spectromagic was the best nightime parade!! The music was magical and uplifting.
I’ll agree with the parade thing . It was special and should be part of the experience. I’ve been to Disney a lot . Been going almost yearly for 30 + years . THEY NEED NEW RIDES or AT THE VERY LEAST , UPDATED CURRENT RIDES .
