With all the construction and the holidays approaching, there really is a lot going on a Disney World.

But let’s narrow the focus down to one hotel in particular, Disney’s Grand Floridian, which, even though it’s getting a lot of TLC, does have a different problem that it faces every year, and you need to know about it!
As we said, over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, there have been so many construction projects that have been overtaking the resort, both inside and outside of the hotel, and last week we saw that the lobby construction is coming to an end. (The large wooden walls and floor in the grand lobby were removed, but some of the boards around the upper floors remained.)

But that’s not what we wanted to talk about here. The “problem” that you’ll be facing if you come during the holidays (the same problem you’ll face every year) is the Gingerbread House.

Picture this: Each year, Disney’s Grand Floridian celebrates the holiday with a GIANT gingerbread house that sets up shop in the lobby. Inside the house is a shop where you can buy gingerbread and festive treats through the holiday season.

It’s definitely a sight to behold. There’s no doubt about it. So what’s the catch I hear you saying? Well, everyone and their grandma wants to see it, too.
Once that Gingerbread House goes up, the typically peaceful Grand Floridian lobby can become like Times Square on New Year’s Eve. Crowded? Oh, you bet!

Now, the Grand Floridian is normally pretty quiet. You might even think of going there to escape the frenzy in the parks, right? Just keep in mind that during the holidays, the spectacle that is The Gingerbread House can really turn the lobby into a carnival of noise. So, you might have to look elsewhere if you were dreaming of sipping your holiday drink in peace and quiet in that elegant lobby during the holidays.

One other thing you’ll have to be aware of, especially if you’ve “survived” the Gingerbread House madness in the lobby, is that if you’re ready to hit the parks, it might not be as easy peasy as you think.

Even though the Grand Floridian is just a short monorail ride to the Magic Kingdom, and that’s great, during the holidays, everyone else wants that monorail ride to the park too, which means those usually short lines might seem to stretch to infinity.

You’ll have to keep that in mind and plan on packing a little bit of extra patience with you.

So, there you have it. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is a fantastic place to visit during the holiday season, just keep in mind that it will probably be quite a crowded place. As always, stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney news!
