This Is the WRONG Disney World Hotel To Stay in on Your 2024 Trip

Are you getting ready to plan your 2024 Disney World trip?

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Trying to decide where to stay is one of the hardest decisions of your vacation. If you’re planning to stay on property, there are over 20 hotels to choose from! We love the hotels individually, but here are the ones we would NOT recommend staying at in 2024.

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground

Fort Wilderness is closest to Magic Kingdom, and while we love this resort, it’s in the process of a major transformation that won’t be done for quite some time.

Disney previously announced that new “refreshed” cabins will be on the way to this resort. However, the permit for this construction wasn’t filed until late September. Each cabin will have a bedroom, bathroom, living room, full kitchen, and private patio, and a select number will be dog-friendly. While we look forward to seeing the completed project, construction will be rampant around this resort in 2024, so you may want to stay away.

Grand Floridian Hotel & Spa

On a similar note, Disney’s Grand Floridian Hotel & Spa is also undergoing some pretty hefty refurbishment currently, and it’s expected to still be ongoing in 2024.

If you’re planning a trip for later in the year, this hotel may be less of an issue, but for the beginning part of the year, you may want to choose a different hotel. As it stands, there are many detours and redirects around the hotel that are undesirable for guests.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Also on the Magic Kingdom resort monorail loop is Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for the same reason — construction.

This hotel is currently building a whole new DVC (Disney Vacation Club) building that replaced the beloved Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show in 2022. This building isn’t expected to be completed until 2024, so once again, it may be less of an issue during the latter half of the year but beware of this construction for the beginning part of 2024.

Pool Closures

If you’re a big fan of hitting the pool, we also want to tell you about some pool refurbishments happening in 2024 that may affect your decision-making. During the beginning of 2024 (January-April), watch out for the following hotel closures:

Fuentes del Morro Pool (Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort)
Doubloon Lagoon Pool (Disney’s Port Orleans Resort: French Quarter)
Fantasia Pool (Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort)
