PHOTOS: Update on a NEW Ride Coming to Universal Orlando!

We’re back with some Universal Orlando construction news!

Universal Orlando

Right now, Mardi Gras is in full swing until April 16th, but there’s something else going on in the parks too. We finally have an update on what will replace the Shrek 4-D experience!

The Shrek 4-D experience officially closed on January 10th, 2022. Back in December 2022, Universal revealed that the space would be used for Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blastwhich is an “interactive, blaster game experience [that] will invite guests to put their villainous skills to the test as they compete against each other in a bid to join the ranks of the franchise’s most infamous supervillains.”

Villain-Con will be replacing Shrek 4-D

The experience will feature the Vicious 6 from Minions: The Rise of Gru. The experience will combine innovative screen technology, gaming interactivity, and elaborate physical sets to create a blaster game like no other. The ride won’t be a stationary theatre or ride vehicle either — it’s going to be a moving walkway!

The new building

The building definitely has had some changes made to it as well and seems to be coming along very well on the construction front. The experience is set to open this summer.

It’s also Mardi Gras!

If you’re visiting the parks soon, be sure to check out all the Mardi Gras eats and entertainment you can experience! As always, stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Universal news.
