A Polynesian Village Resort ICON Is Closing for Refurbishment in Disney World

Disney World is constantly being worked on to add new things or touch-up old favorites.

Disney’s Polynesian Resort

That means that you most likely will not experience Disney World when it is 100% open. It is almost January which is the time for many refurbishments — we already know Kali River Rapids and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be closed for a limited time. Now, one popular pool slide is going to have some downtime in January.

The iconic Lava Pool waterslide will be closed at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort starting on January 3rd, 2023. There is currently no exact end date for this refurb, but it will be open again sometime in early February.

Although you might see and hear Cast Members working on the slide, the actual Lava Pool will still be open. The Oasis Pool will also remain open.

Disney World has been experiencing some COLD weather, so it’s likely that not many guests would want to use the slide in the winter. However, if you’re staying at the Polynesian around this time, you’ll still be able to swim!

If you have a stay booked at the Polynesian, Disney recently started adding Hey Disney! Amazon Alexa devices to the room. Read all about that here!
