There’s always lots going on in the film industry, but we’ve recently seen two new films added to the National Film Registry and the new trailer for Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse released. Speaking of new films, there is big news for Winnie The Pooh fans — an origin story film AND series is coming!

According to Variety, A.A. Milne’s book Winnie-the-Pooh is getting both a prequel film and series at Baboon Animation and IQI Media. Baboon Animation is a story development and screenwriting company that has won 31 Emmys and is helmed by DreamWorks Animation alum Mike de Seve.

The new story will be in the hands of multiple DreamWorks alumni. The film and series will follow Pooh and his friends as kids, in hopes to connect with kids in society today.

The film is set to release in late 2024, with the series following immediately after. Milne’s Winnie The Pooh books entered the public domain earlier this year, and many filmmakers have taken the opportunity to make it their own.
