It’s been another BIG week for Disney news — and a lot of it is happening right at Disney World.

We’ve been busy celebrating the holidays (and the holiday food), but we had to take a break due to Tropical Storm Nicole. So let’s see what big Disney news stories came out this week.
Tropical Storm Nicole
Ahead of Tropical Storm Nicole, Orlando International Airport closed, along with early closings for Disney World parks and Disney Springs. Disney also adjusted its cancellation policies for guests who had trips scheduled during that time.

However, Disney World reopened later the next day — here’s what things looked like then.

Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
We got to attend the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party since 2019. It was a rainy evening, but that didn’t keep the crowds away. Be sure to check out our coverage of the special fireworks, parade, and entertainment at the event!

More importantly, if you’re planning to attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, don’t miss out on these treats.

TONS of New Food Coming To Disney World
Disney just released its foodie guide for the holiday season and there are LOADS of new treats headed to Disney Parks, Disney Springs, and the resorts. SO MUCH FOOD. Guests will be able to indulge in things like an Apple Tart, a Holiday Shake, a Merry Mickey Cupcake, and more!

We can’t wait to start trying out all the new treats. In the meantime, though, here are some we’ve already seen!

Disney’s Q4 Earnings Call
The Walt Disney Company held its Q4 Earnings Call this week and reported that Disney+ subscribers are up nearly 50 million since last year. Disney also reported that its Q4 revenues grew 9%, while revenues for the entire year grew 23%.

Disney reported a total of $21.3 billion in revenue for this quarter, which is down from Q3, but still higher than this time last year. During the call, though, Disney’s stock dropped to under $100 for the second time in 2022.

Tarzan’s Treehouse Makeover in Disneyland
Tarzan’s Treehouse in Disneyland has been under refurbishment, but Disney recently shared a sneak peek at what the new attraction will look like. The treehouse will revert back to its Swiss Family Robinson theme and be called Adventureland Treehouse.

Disney states that guests will find “fascinating rooms that the family in this new story created for one another.”
