Price INCREASE to Hit Disney's ESPN+ Streaming Service

We’re living in the age of streaming, and Disney is not staying behind.

They launched their own streaming service, Disney+, over two years ago, and since then it has grown immensely with tons of content. However, they also own both a majority of Hulu and ESPN+ to round out the Disney streaming bundle…and one of those services is about to get a price increase!

Variety has reported that ESPN+ will soon be getting a significant price increase! The monthly fee for the service will be raised by $3, which is a 43% price hike.

Starting on August 23rd, 2022, the price of ESPN+ will go up to $9.99 per month, and the annual subscription price will rise to $99.99 per year. Currently, those prices sit at $6.99 and $69.99 respectively. At this time, the change won’t affect the price of the Disney Bundle or the UFC pay-per-view events on ESPN+.

This is another in a series of price increases for Disney’s streaming services. Disney+ got a price hike last year, and Hulu went up as well a short while later. ESPN+ had a price increase of its own last year as well.

This comes at a time when Disney is investing a lot into its streaming platforms. They’ve put a heavy focus on new, original programming, especially for Disney+. Just this year alone, we’ve seen countless new Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney original series land on the streaming service.

But big changes are coming to some other streaming services soon too. Disney+ is set to get an ad-supported version soon and Netflix will be featuring ads soon as well. Could this price increase at ESPN+ signal another round of price increases on other streaming services? How will ads change the streaming services landscape? We’ll have to wait and see.
