Disney Announces Price Increase for ESPN+

Streaming services are starting to look like the future of movie watching.

Disney’s caught on to this, and their bundle of Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu is one of the leaders of streaming in the U.S.! Now, Disney is planning to increase the prices of one of their streaming services, according to Variety.

It’s not exactly groundbreaking that Disney is planning to increase their prices for a streaming service. Earlier this year, we saw a price increase for Disney+ as well as for the bundle package of Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu.

This upcoming price increase, however, will only affect ESPN+. Beginning August 13th of this year, ESPN+ will cost $6.99 a month and $69.99 a year. This is up from the previous cost of $5.99 a month and $59.99 a year.

The bundle — Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu — will remain at the same price of $13.99 per month. The price increase for ESPN+ is happening as ESPN has made several sports rights deals that will bring new content to the streaming service. For example, ESPN’s “deal with the National Hockey League will make 75 games available via ESPN Plus exclusively,” according to Variety.

Additionally ESPN has made deals to secure the rights to the iconic tennis tournament Wimbledon. The streaming service will also show LaLiga soccer exclusively after next month and the PGA Tour Live beginning next season (Variety).
