Orlando Airport

Currently, Florida is in the middle of its busy spring break season, plus some nasty weather tore through Central Florida over the weekend, resulting in delays and cancelations at the Orlando International Airport.

Southwest Airlines, one of the busiest airlines at MCO, canceled a combined total of 115 flights on Sunday, April 3rd at the Orlando International Airport, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

According to Southwest’s statement on Twitter, “We are experiencing flight disruptions across our network today due to briefly pausing our service earlier this morning as we worked to resolve an intermittent technology issue, as well as ongoing weather challenges impacting multiple areas within our system.”

Southwest’s 50th Anniversary Plane

On Saturday, April 2nd, Southwest canceled an additional 520 flights, which broke down to 189 canceled outbound flights and 154 canceled arrivals, as reported by the Orlando Sentinel.

Hundreds of flights were canceled

Earlier in 2022, the Orlando International Airport was listed within the top 10 busiest airports in America, and MCO even earned the title of the busiest airport in the US between February 26th-February 27th, 2022.

The Orlando Airport is breaking records!

This isn’t the first time passengers flying in or out of the Orlando International Airport have faced a series of delays and cancelations, though the large spring break crowds and severe weather set this instance apart. If you’re planning to visit the airport this spring, make sure to leave yourself plenty of time!
