Ever since Disney World reopened, entertainment options have slowly returned to the parks.
Just in the past few weeks, we’ve had Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire and the Festival of Fantasy Parade come back, and there’s more scheduled for the future. (We’re looking at YOU, Fantasmic!) However, some of the shows, like Festival of the Lion King in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, have been operating differently.
Ever since it reopened, Festival of the Lion King has been known as “A Celebration of Festival of the Lion King” and has operated without segments of the show that it formerly had, like the tumble monkeys, flying birds, and audience participation. However, Disney announced on TikTok that one of those elements is returning soon!
@disneyparks It…is….time 🐵 Tumble Monkeys are making their return this Summer #Disney #DisneyParks #DisneyWorld #AnimalKingdom #FestivalOfTheLionKing #Monkey
That’s right, the tumble monkeys are coming BACK! The beloved gymnasts will be back in the summer of this year, performing alongside Timon to “Hakuna Matata.” Their return will likely lengthen the showtime just a tad as the song was shortened when they were initially removed.
Tumble Monkeys will be returning to the Festival of the Lion King show this summer‼️👏👏👏

At this time, Disney hasn’t revealed whether or not the “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” portion of the show will be featuring the aerialist instead of the dancing birds, but we’ll be there when the monkeys return to find out!
