There are plenty of ways to enjoy the latest Disney content and lately, Disney has been making a big splash in the streaming world with services like Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu.
Another way Disney has been working in the streaming space is by providing their television channels like Disney Channel, ESPN, and FX through live TV streaming services. However, due to a recent dispute, Disney is pulling their channels from one of the largest live TV streaming platforms.
As of 11:59 PM on December 17th, all Disney-owned content has been removed from YouTube TV, including 25 channels, 17 live networks, and 8 ABC local stations.
This is due to ongoing disputes between Disney and YouTube TV about carriage fees. According to Deadline, Disney is “optimistic” about finding a resolution to this dispute soon. Recently, YouTube TV commented that “despite our best efforts, we’ve been unable to reach an equitable agreement before our existing one expired, and their channels are no longer available on YouTube TV.”
Currently, the removed channels are as follows:
- Local ABC channels
- ABC News Live
- Disney Channel
- Disney Junior
- Disney XD
- Freeform
- FX
- FXX
- FXM
- National Geographic
- National Geographic Wild
- ESPN
- ESPN2
- ESPN3
- ESPNU
- ESPNEWS
- SEC Network
- ACC Network
Meanwhile, Disney’s own collection of streaming services features Hulu, a platform that has a live TV plan with a similar array of channels as YouTube TV. Hulu with Live TV is also available in a bundle with Disney+ and ESPN+ for $72.99/month, which is more expensive compared to the $49.99/month cost of YouTube TV.
This situation is expected to change in the coming weeks and months and we’ll keep you posted on any new developments! We’re always keeping up with the latest Disney news, so stay tuned here for more.
