When Disney World first reopened its theme parks last summer, several touch points were modified or removed to promote the health and safety guideliens at the time.
Since then, some of those touch points have been added back, like self-serve buffet stations like we saw over the weekend at Boma in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.
Now, we’re seeing the biometric finger scanners returning to the main entrances at the Disney World parks. We visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom today to check it out for ourselves!
Entering Animal Kingdom is now like it was prior to the park closures — you hold your MagicBand or ticket up to the tapstile, then you place your finger on the scanner to be admitted into the park.
Here’s what the whole process looks like in action!

Sorry to see these return. These worked about 50% of the time for me; then had to wait for someone to come over to assist and let me in the park. Spent well $15k (party of 10), and me, Auntie, couldn’t get in without assistance. You’d think they would have “fixed” the issue the first time I had to step out of line! Still had a great time.
Not safe! For an unvaccinated person using this….and me behind him? Not like they are disinfecting the finger scanner each time they are used….not to he goin right now south including Florida is a hot bed of Covid cases due to the many unvaccinated. How does Disney think this is smart?
I first went to Disney World in June of 2021 and these were not active.
What is the purpose of requiring the fingerprint scan as well?
