NEWS: Disney+ Officially Greenlights Musical 'Beauty and the Beast' Series

Whether it’s Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, or Disney, there are dozens of shows and movies on the lineup to premiere this year and beyond. And now, there’s a new show that fans of the live-action Beauty and the Beast can anticipate!

In honor of the 30th anniversary of Beauty and the Beast (the animated version), Disney+ has greenlit the prequel series for the live-action version of the film. This eight-episode series will star Josh Gad and Luke Evans from the 2017 film.

Gad and Evans will reprise their roles as LeFou (Louie) and Gaston. They will be joined by Briana Middleton (“The Tender Bar”) to play Louie’s stepsister, Tilly. The series, which has a working title of Beauty and the Beast, will be executive-produced and written by Gad, Edward Kitsis, and Adam Horowitz. The show will also feature an original soundtrack from award-winning composer Alan Menken.

According to Disney, “the series will follow Gaston and LeFou as they set off with LeFou’s step-sister, Tilly, after a surprising revelation from her past comes to light, sending the unlikely trio off on an unexpected journey filled with romance, comedy, and adventure.” We’ll finally get to learn how Gaston and LeFou became friends!
