The Biggest Wastes of Money in Disney World

Disney World can be very expensive!

Main Street, U.S.A.

You’re likely already spending a lot on your Disney vacation and we certainly want you to be able to keep costs as low as possible. One big way to do that is to avoid wasting money in Disney World!

Here are some of the biggest wastes of money in Disney World!

Bottled Water

When you’re in Disney World, you’re walking a lot in the heat. You’ll probably find yourself hankering for a cool sip of water! Well, those Dasani water bottles might be tempting but they’re also a waste of money. Instead, head to a nearby Quick Service spot and ask a Cast Member for a free cup of water!

Don’t forget: you can get cups of ice water at Quick Service spots for free!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Alright, this one is a little controversial because many-a-kiddo will beg to meet up with their very own Fairy Godmother for a makeover into their favorite princess. Sure, it can make for a magical moment and some magical photos but boy is it expensive.

This experience can cost hundreds of dollars based on the package you choose. Sure, you get to keep the princess dress, but littles can muss up that hair and makeup fast. Don’t expect those dollars to get you more than a few hours of put-together kid.

Instead, consider DIY-ing the makeover. Snag a Princess costume from Disney stores or online and give your little a special makeover from your hotel room. Your wallet will thank you.

Two Credit Restaurants on the Disney Dining Plan

NOTE: The Disney Dining Plan is currently unavailable. We’ll be sure to update when it returns!

Signature Dining is a lovely and expensive experience in Disney World. When the Disney Dining Plan is around, these options are available for two dining credits where other restaurants are available for just one.

Le Cellier Filet Mignon

In many cases, you’ll end up spending less money to pay for these meals out of pocket than you would by using your dining credits!

Disney Dining Plan (If you don’t use it right!)

Speaking of the Disney Dining Plan, it can actually be a waste of money altogether if you don’t use it right. Specifically, you gotta make sure you get through all of those dining credits!

Rosie’s All-American Cafe

Remember, if you find yourself with snack credits on the last day, you can snag some prepackaged snacks from the gift shop! Leaving credits left on your plan could mean you’re wasting already-spent money!

Candy

Annual Passes or Disney Vacation Club (If you don’t use them enough!)

Similarly, if you don’t get their full use, Annual Passes (when available) and the Disney Vacation Club can be a waste of money. Make sure you are certain you’ll be able to get your value’s worth. If you aren’t able to use all enough days with your pass or points from DVC, you could be wasting money.

A Pricey Hotel Room (For certain trips!)

Depending on how you do Disney, you might be wasting money on a fancy hotel room. If you plan on spending every waking moment you can in the parks, then you probably don’t need a super snazzy hotel room. It’ll go to waste while you’re not there!

Park Hopper (If you don’t use them enough!)

Another thing that could be a waste if you don’t use it enough is Park hopper. You could lose a good chunk of money if you pay for Park hopper and then stay in one park! We recommend waiting to upgrade to Park hopper until you’re certain you need it.

Park hopping is BACK!
