We’ve seen new movies, new series, and several big announcements for streaming services like Disney+ and Hulu. Today, we got another big piece of news: Disney is launching its own adult animation division!

The new division, called 20th Television Animation, will be led by 20th Century Television veteran Marci Proietto. According to Deadline, this new unit will be responsible for developing and producing animated series and for taking charge of existing shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons.

These two shows, along with other hits like Bob’s Burgers and American Dad will be produced by the new division going forward, instead of 20th Century Television. This new studio will be reporting directly to Walt Disney Television President of Entertainment Craig Hunegs.

There are currently 11 series in production here, which include Koala Man, Solar Opposites, The Great North, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Bob’s Burgers, Bless The Harts, Duncanville, American Dad, Central Park, and The Prince. These shows are available across a variety of platforms, including Fox, Apple TV+, and HBO Max.  On top of these, dozens of other projects are in development.

Proietto has been a part of 20th Century Television for nearly 30 years, taking a job as an assistant right out of college. She started work on The Simpsons in season 6 and has worked on every other Fox animated property. It’s estimated that she’s worked on more than 2440 episodes of 22 different shows since she started at the studio.
