When Monica goes back into the Hex again during the last episode, she comes out a changed woman in many ways. Since she has gone through the Hex 3 different times, her cells have been rewritten on a molecular level that ends up giving her power in some way.

Tenoyah explains that the WandaVision team “explained it to me that through Monica’s compassion, through her empathy, and her willingness to put her own body on the line, she sacrifices her own self for what she believes is the greater good [to go back to Westview]. And that happens by passing through this energy field too many times, essentially.”

Tenoyah said that while filming the scene she “tried to imagine the grief and the heaviness of Monica losing her mom and not being there, and the heaviness of the guilt.” She continues to say “That was Monica’s actual physical moment to grieve and to just scream and let it out, whereas before she’s been trying to get through it by helping Wanda, by throwing herself into work.” In that scene, we all saw “the physical manifestation of Monica moving through her grief.”

To film the scene, Tenoyah shared that the scene was a physical challenge, and she “had to wear each of [her] outfits, get tethered to a rope, and pull to have that motion.” When she gets through the Hex, she immediately goes to Wanda’s house and tries to warn her about S.W.O.R.D. Director Hayward. When Wanda blasts her out of the house again, she doesn’t fall and is able to stand her ground.

Tenoyah says that originally she was “supposed to get thrown to the ground,” but her and the creative team decided she was “able to kind of harness the powers a little bit.” When she landed how she does in the finished episode for the first time, she said she “really got to feel like, ‘ooh, a Super Hero.’”
