With the massive success of The Mandalorian and WandaVision, it’s clear that original Disney+ content is here to stay!

According to Variety, screenwriter Ronald D. Moore is in the process of developing a number of new shows on the streaming service, all of which will reportedly take place inside a Magic Kingdom-inspired universe!
The first series in the works is inspired by the Society of Explorers and Adventurers, also known as S.E.A. The series will be written and executive produced by Ronald D. Moore. The Society of Explorers and Adventurers is a group of, as the name implies, fictional explorers and adventurers. Their story is steeped in Disney Parks lore, from the former Adventurers Club in Pleasure Island to Jungle Cruise as well as Trader Sam’s and Jungle Navigation Co., Ltd. Skipper Canteen.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the concept behind these series “is to explore characters — like sea boat captain from the Jungle Cruise or prospector from Big Thunder Mountain or the climbers of the Matterhorn, for example — as part of the world of The Society of Explorers and Adventurers.”

Variety expands on this concept and claims that “in the show, the themed lands and characters of the Disney parks and classic films all actually exist in another reality.” It sounds like Moore is partnering with Disney Imagineering to create a variety of content that creates an “interconnected universe,” similar to Marvel. In addition to the Society of Explorers and Adventurers, a series inspired by Swiss Family Robinson is also in the works for Disney+.

If you’re steeped in Disney Parks backstories, legends, and lore, then this could turn out to be a major deal in the streaming world! We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information regarding these new series coming to Disney+!
