Disney World and Disneyland came out with a top-tier Lightning Lane pass (skip-the-line pass), Lightning Lane Premier Pass, in October of 2024. The new pass lets you ride every ride in a park that has a Lightning Lane, including the rides you have to normally pay extra for.
These passes range from $120 to $400, depending on the day and park. There are limited quantities available of the passes each day, and they are only available to those staying at a Disney hotel or select other hotel. We’ve purchased Lightning Lane Premier Pass at both Disneyland and Disney World, and now that we have, here are six things we think you should know before you do.
You Can’t Park Hop at Disney World
When you purchase a Premier Pass at Disney World, you purchase it for one park per day. Once you have purchased it for for one of the parks, you are unable to use the Premier Pass at one of the other three parks.
If you have a Park Hopper Ticket, you are absolutely able to park hop; however, you will not be able to use your Premier Pass at the new park. For example, if I purchase Lightning Lane Premier Pass for Magic Kingdom, I can ride every single ride with a Lightning Lane in Magic Kingdom, including TRON Lightcycle / Run and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train which are normally a Lightning Lane Single Pass rides. But if I decide to park hop to EPCOT, I will not be able to use the Premier Pass for the rides there.
If you decide to park hop on the day you purchase a Premier Pass and still want to use the Lightning Lane lines at the new park, you’ll need to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and/or Lightning Lane Single Pass for the rides at that park.
You Can Only Purchase One Park Per Day
This brings us to our second point. If you purchase Premier Pass for one park and then park hop, you will not be able to purchase Premier Pass at the new park. You can only purchase Premier Pass for one park per day.
If you want to purchase Premier Pass for multiple parks, you’ll have to purchase it for separate days. You can purchase Premier Pass 7 days out from your trip for each day of your trip for up to 14 days.
You CAN Park Hop at Disneyland
Now, if you purchase Lightning Lane Premier Pass at Disneyland Resort, the rules are a bit different than at Disney World. At Disneyland Resort, you CAN park hop and use your Premier Pass at both parks on the same day for all the rides with Lightning Lane.
The price for Premier Pass at Disneyland Resort is $300-$400, depending on the day. The price is not different if you plan to use it at only one park or at both. So if you have a Park Hopper Ticket, we suggest park hopping and using it at both parks, so you really get your money’s worth!
You Can Only Use It Once Per Ride
Regardless of if you’re at Disneyland or Disney World, you can only use Premier Pass one time per ride.
With Premier Pass, you don’t have to plan or make Lightning Lane reservations, which is a HUGE perk of the pass; you can just show up. However, you can only ride each ride once, unlike with Multi Pass where you can book the same over and over if you want and if it’s available.
You Can Still Purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass
If you do decide you want to ride the same ride again with a Lightning Lane, you can still purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and/or Lightning Lane Single Passes on the same day that you purchase Premier Pass.
You can use Lightning Lane Multi Pass in another park if you decide to park hop, or you can purchase Multi Pass and/or Single Pass to ride a ride more than once with Lightning Lane. Both of these other Lightning Lane passes are still options on the day you purchase Premier Pass.
It’s for People Who Want to Spend Their Whole Day Riding Rides
If you’re the kind of person who has the goal of riding every ride in a park with little to no wait, then Premier Pass might be for you. However, if you go to Disney World to ride one or two rides then catch the many great shows, eat all the yummy food, and do lots of shopping, then you might want to skip purchasing the Premier Pass.
This pass is NOT cheap, and you definitely have to want to spend your day riding rides, since that is the purpose of this pass. If that’s not what you’re looking to do at Disney World, then we suggest either grabbing one of the other two Lightning Lane pass options or opting to not purchase Lightning Lanes at all.
If you’re considering purchasing Lightning Lane Premier Pass for your next Disney World trip, think about these six things as you decide which Lightning Lane system will work best for you and your group.

At Disney World you can not book a ride again with the multi pass system. Other than that I like your article. I’m sure it won’t be long b4 Disney lets you buy the premier pass when park hopping. It is just more money for them.
