In late April, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that the majority of Florida would be able to re-open in phase one starting on May 4th. Excluded from that re-opening were several South Florida counties that were hit particularly hard by the health crisis, including Broward and Miami-Dade.
Now, Governor DeSantis has announced that these South Florida counties can begin opening next week!
In a press conference today, DeSantis announced that Broward and Miami-Dade counties can begin a phased re-opening starting this upcoming Monday, May 18th.
While stores and businesses will be able to re-open at partial capacity, beaches will remain closed at this time. DeSantis also clarified that the re-opening will not include “bars, gyms, movie theaters, bowling alleys or massage parlors”, according to the Sun Sentinel.
