If you saw Frozen 2 this weekend, you’re not alone! The highly anticipated sequel grossed over 130 million dollars worldwide during its opening weekend!
And while the plot is somewhat darker than the original, the movie is full of laughs. Like big laughs — I am a grown human and I LOLed multiple times. (Spoiler alert: most of them are from Olaf.)
Warning: this post does contain spoilers from the movie. Not big plot points, but we’re (obviously) going to give away a few jokes. If you haven’t seen the movie or don’t want to know the jokes before you go, TURN BACK NOW. DON’T SCROLL PAST THIS POSTER. Instead, enjoy our Spoiler Free Review of Frozen 2.
So without further ado, here are our favorite funny moments from Frozen 2!
1. Olaf the Story-teller
When first entering the Enchanted Forest, Anna, Elsa, and the gang run into Arendelle soldiers and the native Northuldra people who have been trapped there for over 30 years. Naturally they need to be brought up to speed with recent occurrences, so Olaf recaps the entire plot of Frozen in about 60 seconds. It’s hysterical, and even funnier are Lieutenant Mattias’ reactions.
And if you stay tuned for the post-credit scene, Olaf recaps the plot of Frozen 2 — this time for Marshmallow and the Snowgies.
2. Kristoff’s Boy Band Moment
After a few failed proposal attempts, Kristoff finds himself alone in the woods with Sven. And what is there to do but sing a power ballad? (Which, thank goodness we get a Kristoff musical number this film. Am I right?!)
And sing a power ballad he does. Packed with every boy band music video clique, it had me giggling the entire song. (Full disclosure, there aren’t any gifs of this scene on the internet yet, so I assembled the next best thing.)
“Lost in the Woods” in a nutshell:
3. Olaf’s Fun Facts
Several times throughout the film, Olaf decides to regale his travel companions with fun facts (he can read now). While the gang may get annoyed with his never-ending trivia and theories, they made me LOL. In particular when he says:
“My theory that advancing technology will lead to our doom?”
You’re not wrong, Olaf.
4. A Nod to the Author
At one point, Elsa has a vision of her parents. Her father is seen reading, and her mother asks what book it is. King Agnarr replies, “Oh, it’s from this new Danish author.”
Get it? Frozen is based off the story The Snow Queen by Danish author Hans Christian Anderson. LOL. Subtle literature joke…good one Disney.
(Bonus fun fact: several of our favorite Frozen characters get their names from the author. HANS KRISTOFF ANNA SVEN. Say those together really fast. 😉 )
5. Family Charades
In one of the early scenes we see our favorite blended family playing some games! Nothing brings family closer together than competition right? This scene is adorable and funny for many reasons, but Olaf rearranging himself in charades was the best! Especially his nod to a popular mouse and the snow queen herself.
