When Disney’s Hollywood Studios first opened in 1989 as Disney-MGM Studios, there was a lot of elements in the park from the 1988 movie, Roger Rabbit. Today, only a few Roger Rabbit elements still remain including this red trolley souvenir kiosk on Sunset Blvd. as a nod to the Red Car trolley line seen in the movie which makes for my Disney Pic of the Week on Sunset Blvd..

  1. This explains why I can’t find that window any more. I remember seeing it on my first visit to Disney/MGM in ’92 and have looked for it since. I was assuming I just wasn’t looking in the right place. Another big Roger themed area in the Studios was the ACME Gagworks. Very ToonTown/Looney Tones kind of place where you could interact with cartoon props. It was a fun photo op area.

Scott replies: There are a few props from the Gagworks in the Stage 1 Company Store including the Ton of Bricks hanging above the entrance. Got a lot of old prints from their.

  2. I remember the Roger rabbit shaped hole in a wall somewhere on (I think) the backlot tour in 1991. I also had my photo taken with Roger himself over at Mk that same holiday-I do think Disney missed a trick there getting rid of him…

Scott replies: There were a lot of references to Roger Rabbit when the Studios first opened. The hole you are referring to was a window shade which Roger went through in the movie. Roger is sometimes still seen in parades.
