Review of Chef Mickey's Dinner

Chef Mickey's dinner has been a favorite tradition for my family for 25 years. Sadly, the restaurant has changed over the last few years, and the food is nothing like it used to be. They have replaced the prime rib with roast, and the world-renowned parmesan potatoes have now been replaced by smashed potatoes. The food is sub par, and we were so sad that our traditional restaurant will no longer be on our list of places to eat at WDW. I wish WDW would leave the original menu alone. The waitress said she had received lots of complaints about the parmesan potatoes being gone! Ugh! And on top of that, this was the most expensive meal we had, and definitely the worst! Really wish WDW would go back to the old menu at Chef Mickey's dinner!

I really enjoyed both visits to Trader Sams, however if you are able to get a table inside the whole experience changes for the better. Definitely a fun bar if your with friends. The staff was really interactive with the ordering of certain drinks. Definitely go back, with no wait.

We stayed Jan 30 since we were able to arrive a day early for our trip. We figured if we were going to arrive later in the evening and needed a hotel why not on property especially for the price. We paid $95 incl tax.we arrived around 9 pm. Check in was very fast. Our room was in mighty ducks, first floor. It was smaller than a moderate and we felt it was fine for the night for the three of us, 2adults and a soon to be 13 yr. Old. I wouldn't want to stay if our family was larger or for a longer time as souvenirs ECT keep getting added. It was clean and cute. The film theme was nice. The food court looked decent but we didn't eat there just grabbed some forks. The gift shop is a downer. I found it to lack selection compared to other shops in Disney hotels. Checkout was quick and efficient. The pools were closed during the time frame we were there. Mighty duck pool was only open 12-8. Fantasia I am not sure. We have done a late arrival stay at pop before and we liked this one much better as far as cleanliness and checkin checkout and how quiet it was for the amount of children. We would do tho again if we needed to.

We ate here on 1/31/2017. We were on the dining plan and are 2 adults and a 13 yr old. We arrived a bit early for our adr and we were 3 not 5 and the gentleman was cute nice and checked us in. We found a bench and waited briefly maybe at most 10 minutes. Long enough to hit the restrooms and chat minimally. The waitress was Lisa very friendly guessed my sons age because she saw it was his bday. Didn't live the table. It was bottom level which I like but it was set up for 8 and they put a family of four next to us so it was awkward. The tossed salad itself was good but the dressing a little to tangy and drenched in the lettuce. The butter for the rolls was yummy the rolls were hard. The mac and cheese bland and didn't taste like Stouffer. My son had that. The bed and the turkey were ok had to wait a ling time for more. Mashed potatoes were a little to loose. Dessert was strawberry shortcake. We can usually see the characters twice in one time around the restaurant and they ae very interactive. Not this time we had to go longer than one time and waited for Mickey and Pluto. For being so quick at each table waiting shouldn't have been an issue. Loved this place in the past not sure it was worth it this time just a little lack luster.
Pros:

We checked in at Polynesian on 12/22 and had a noon reservation at Kona. We were seated on time and had a very pleasant meal here. I've always liked Kona but my family hasn't always enjoyed it to be honest. But I'm happy to say we all very much enjoyed our lunch. Perhaps it was at least partially due to the fact that we were all very hungry after our flight. And perhaps it was partially due to us being excited to be just beginning our vacation and escaping the New England cold.
Our waitress was terrific and our appetizers came quickly. I've had Kona's crab cakes before and I was looking forward to them. They were just as good as I remembered! Other apps ordered were pot stickers and salads.
For entrees we ordered the Loco Moco, pork tacos and the Asian noodle bowl for entrees.
Kona flies under the radar for most people and while it wasn't the best meal of our trip, I believe everyone will be happy to go back. Before our meal was over we received a text that our room was ready! Perfect ending!
Pros:
great service, very good foodCons:

Today 2/2/17 we ate here on the dining plan as a quick service choice. We ate around noon. Seating filled quickly. Lots of large family tables instead of just 4 tops. About 50/50 shady and sunny tables. We used two snack credits for 2chicken fried rice's. My husband got the ginger chicken salad. The dressing didn't agree with him so he wouldn't get it again. In the past he has gotten the salad offered and not had a problem. The fried rice is in between a pint and quart. The containers were not full to the top but there was plenty. The chicken was minimal in it but it tasted yummy.

We ate here 2/1 for lunch. We had the dp. We are two adults and a 13 yr old. We had two roast beef sandwiches and a croque monsieur with fries for each. We preordered. We checked in about 20 minutes early. We were given a yellow rose and told to walk down the left side. Once over the bridge people on the right were lined up waiting to go into the ordering line. We were let right in and sent to the preorder register. We confirmed our order and found a seat. We sat in the main room by the window. The food was a little slow coming out. We got our drinks and waited. The roast beef sandwiches were comparable to panera steak and arugala sandwich the dies were teetering on too saltya lit than McDonald's. Smaller than I remember. The croque monsieur was good more ham than let trip.

In a word, Wow! This was our family's favorite meal of our 11 day trip. Because we stayed at two different resorts we were able to split our dining plan - deluxe for first 5 days and standard for remaining 6. During the deluxe portion of our stay we decided to try a few signature dining experiences that we either had never tried before (Artist Point & Citrico's) or hadn't been to in a long time (Le Cellier).
We went to Artist Point on Christmas Eve. This was our one "dress up" meal and we were all looking forward to it. We were not disappointed in any way.
We were seated right at our reservation time. We had a wonderful server and a manager visited our table as well. We never felt rushed but our food arrived pretty quickly too which I think is a good combination.
I had the smoked mushroom soup which was incredible. And followed it up with the salmon as my entrée. Again, incredible. My family ordered filets and veal as their entrees.
Our server was very friendly and helpful with menu selections. When a manager visited us he was happy to tell us about the chef's favorite selections as well as the history of the restaurant itself without ever feeling intrusive.
It was just a great experience. We all agreed this was far and away our favorite meal of our trip. Le Cellier was our next favorite but honestly, we felt Artist Point was in a league of it's own. The bill would have been north of $400 before tip...so glad were able to go!

This is one of our favorites. We try to go every trip and we've never had a bad meal here. Some of the servers enjoy their roles while others are low key. This particular visit our server really didn't play the part too much. It's a little disappointing when that happens especially when you see other servers being silly with their customers - but our server was pleasant enough. Maybe she was new, maybe she was just not in the mood.
After we checked in we found a seat in the waiting area (which is often difficult) and were surprised when we were called right at our reservation time! We had checked in about 15 minutes early. In our experience going to 50's we often wait 10, 15 minutes after our reservation time. Sometimes even longer.
The food never disappoints. My favorite is the sampler - fried chicken, pot roast and meatloaf. It is so good! I have decided the fried chicken is my favorite of the three. My family ordered the chicken Caesar salads and the chicken pot pie. Every one of us was extremely happy with our food.
I have to mention the dessert as well - chocolate peanut butter cake. Holy cow was it incredible!
Great meal, great fun as always at 50s!

We haven't been to Le Cellier in several years. But since we sprang for the deluxe dining plan we wanted to go back.
We all agreed this was our second favorite meal of our trip topped only by Artist Point a couple nights earlier. I love the cheddar beer soup but opted to try the lobster and crab app instead. Good choice! It was extraordinary. My wife got the soup so best of both worlds - she shared some with me.
All four of us ordered filet and as I've said every single time we've been to Le Cellier - that was the best steak I've ever had. No exaggeration, they really do make an incredible steak. Service was excellent. Overall, we were so happy to be able to visit Le Cellier again!
