My family loves this restaurant for the food and the interaction with the servers. We have had several really good servers in the past, and some who missed the part where they were supposed to interact with their customers. This trip we had Eric. He was just the greatest. My face hurt from laughing so much. It was a really memorable experience for our family. It is what makes Disney special for us. Food was yummy too!

Pros:

Our server Eric

The meal was absolutely delicious. We forgot about the dessert that was coming and all complained that we did not have any room...well, the dessert was completely gone! I think the best part about this restaurant are the character interactions. Chip and Dale are always a hoot. Our youngest is 12 and the oldest is 19, and they love it too. The characters have more time here and stop by or wave and interact multiple times. I would highly recommend this for people with young children too as the crowds are lower and it is quieter. Will definitely be back.

I went for lunch. I got the Beef and Pork Sausage. It's pretty much like a corn dog with sausage in the middle. However, there is a lot of corn bread and not much sausage. You get slaw and a back-eyed pea salad. The slaw was awful and the pea salad was ok. With a drink it's kinda pricy for what you get. I won't be going again.

Pros:

Fast, hot

Cons:

Not much food for the price

Review of Bay Lake Tower (Disney Vacation Club)

This was our first time at this resort and we really liked it. Our room was very spacious for a 1 bedroom villa. It was clean and comfortable. It was nice to be on the monorail. We were on the 5th floor and it was awesome to walk out and be able to get to the 4th floor at the Contemporary through the walkway.

We ate at the Wave and it was awesome. We ate lunch at the quick service restaurant when we got there and it was not crowded at all. The rest of the vacation it was very crowded. Food and choices were good.

The challenges..One of our party rented a scooter. It was at the Contemporary and not at Bay Lake Tower. We had to walk over and pick it up there because a signature was required. If you need a scooter, it should be assumed that you can't walk to go get it. Fortunately others in the party could. We also had a very frustrating experience getting our food and owners locker delivered. It took 3 visits and about an hour to get both. The very nice bellman brought a large Rubbermaid type container and seemed not to understand what an owners locker was. It ended up that it was also at the Contemporary. Have no clue why that was since the delivery confirmation clearly said Bay Lake Tower.

We had some very aggressive cleaning people who basically tried to force their way into our room to get garbage. We did not have a do not disturb sign in our room, but when we asked that they come back, they knocked persistently even though I told them that there were people in the shower getting ready. It was really annoying and not appreciated at all. The day we checked out, they also came knocking...why??? Check out is at 11.

Finally, we left to go from the 5th floor to the 1st 20 minutes in advance of our Magical Express time. We almost missed the bus because we could not get downstairs. That is absurd.

Would we go back? I don't think so, but mainly because it is not our home resort and we prefer another area, but also because of some of the issues experienced. I would recommend it for families with younger children because of the location.

Review of Polynesian Deluxe Studios (Disney Vacation Club)

First off, before this trip I LOVED the Poly. I've stayed here 6 times previously, and never wanted to stay anywhere else. I was too afraid I wouldn't love a different resort as much. However, I hadn't been here for 10 years, and my husband had never even been to Disney World. I planned to make this trip extra special, hoping he would love it as much as I do.

Check in was speedy and courteous. Gone are the days of driving you and your luggage in a golf cart to your room. Bags were brought after we called bell services from our room. The pools are definitely bigger, and better, at least in some ways. The quiet pool used to be pretty quiet, and it still is. However, with the addition of the whirlpools, more children are there, believing the whirlpool is a kiddie pool. The whirlpool is kept at 104 degrees, to hot and not safe for children. It would seen totally appropriate for the quiet pool to become for adults only, especially with the addition of the bar, and in the absence of lifeguards, similar to what Aulani has done. Give us empty-nesters something.

The rooms are nice, and the split bathroom is handy. I did not like how the fan went on by motion. At night its just too loud. The room was very nice, but with the addition of the split bath, it was! now smaller than their normal hotel rooms. There are a couple of small drawers in the nightstands and in the washrooms, but the two deep drawers under the bed are impractical, making clothes storage a problem, especially if you had three to five people in the room. Give us a dresser!

The monorail was inoperable for one and a half days. I suppose that can happen. The worst part of our transportation was one night when we were headed over to MK for the evening. From dinner we planned on taking the monorail. We went upstairs and found approximately 150 people waiting to board. Figured out is was right after the early luau was over. I think for the money you spend to stay there, and with the implementation of the magic bands, Poly guests should get priority boarding during times like this. The other hotels on the resort loop don't have large gatherings getting out at the same time. We had to then walk back to the TTC to get to the MK to make our first FP time.

In the past, I always felt the magic here, and felt like I was in paradise. I didn't feel that this time. The landscaping, while still neat, lacked the flowers and beauty from the past. Staff never once greeted with "Aloha". The beach area is almost an afterthought, especially since most of the view is blocked by the bungalows. We had a couple meals at the GF, and found that for the same, or just a little more money, it felt much, much more special overall. From the holiday decorations, to the live music in the lobby, and the beauty of the landscaping, the GF will be the next place we stay.

I never thought I'd say it, but I don't believe we will be staying at the Poly our next trip, and it breaks my heart.

Pros:

Location, Nice Rooms

Cons:

Transportation Problems, Decline of "Magic", Lack of Drawer Space

BLT is our home resort and we stayed 1/8-1/15, this is our first time in a one bedroom here, we had plenty of room and the full kitchen was great to have, there also is a very large flat screen tv in the living room and that was a big plus with all the football games.
The room was very quiet and clean, the 2 bathrooms came in handy In the mornings.
we had great view of the pool area and the lake behind the pool.

Pros:

Close to MK and Top of the World,

None

We did the tour with my mother who is in a wheelchair, my 2 nieces and their parents. We always try to do something nice for the girls so we surprised them with the tour. This was a great experience. The biggest thrill for me was the fact that they had a person to attend my mother in a PVC water accessible wheelchair leaving me to enjoy the experience fully. She also got in the pool so she didn't feel left out.

Our tour was informative and enjoyable. I highly recommend this. It's a bit costly but it's vacation and a portion of the proceeds go towards the preservation fund.

Pros:

individual attention for my mother

Cons:

if there is one I'd say cost

Review of Disney's Polynesian Resort Concierge Level

Reviewed by ajrob Review Date: 01/20/2017

My daughter and I visited 1/9/17-1/16/17. A cast member from the Front Desk at the Ceremonial house led us on the very short walk to the Hawaii building to meet with the Club Level concierge.

The Hawaii building is located in the center of the Poly resort. About a 2 minute walk to Ceremonial House, about 30 second walk for the boats to MK, and an 8 minute walk to TTC to catch the monorail to Epcot. It is also situated between both the lava pool and quiet pool.

We met a super friendly and informative concierge who then showed us the way to our room and the Club. I had made a request not to be on the ground floor and I was given first floor? After a quick phone call I was switched to a second floor room. I just don't understand that, I booked my room the very first day the 2017 schedule for Disney packages was available, I think it was June, was asked about requests and the only one I had was not to be on the first floor???

The rooms are a bit dated...I don't understand why as the resort underwent a massive reno in 2014? Maybe the light colors show too much dirt and stains. The room was clean, bright, spacious and the resort overall was very quiet.

The Club food was good and plentiful. The room is very pretty with massive windows to watch Wishes at night. Some issues with parents not watching or reprimanding their children while in the club. WE ALL SPENT MONEY TO BE THERE!!!

Mousekeeping did a superb job each and every day. We did get a towel creation one day. Turndown service was nice too.

Captain Cook's the QS restaurant had good food, and it was always clean with plenty of tables available. O'Hana was awesome as usual, and we ate breakfast at Kona which was delicious as well.

Overall we loved the Poly! The concierge was always helpful, whether I needed something picked up from a park or printing out my boarding passes. Food in the club was plentiful and always tasty. The room was always clean.

Only reason for a 9, was the room looked a bit worn and the supervision of children on the club level. There is always a cast member in the Club, yet nothing was ever said to the young children(or their parents) who were running up and down the hallway all hours of the day/night and taking food from the buffet, with their hands.

Would stay again!

Pros:

staff, location, club food

Cons:

rude children/parents
