6 Sneaky Roller Coaster Ride Tricks at Disney World

While many roller coaster enthusiasts may not immediately associate Walt Disney World with thrilling coasters, the resort actually has a pretty robust collection. From iconic classics like Space Mountain to modern E-Tickets like TRON Lightcycle/Run and family-friendly coasters like Slinky Dog Dash to thrill major thrill machines like the Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster.

TRON Lightcycle / Run

If you’re heading to the “Most Magical Place on Earth” and want to ride as many of the resort’s coasters as possible, these are the tips you’ll need to follow and the tricks you’ll need to know.

Ride at Showtime

Let’s begin at the Magic Kingdom, Disney World’s busiest park, which is home to some of the resort’s most popular coasters: TRON Lightcycle/Run, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. If you want to hop on the standard queue for one of these in-demand coasters, we’d advise doing so during parades and fireworks shows, when lines will be (comparatively) shorter.

Single Rider Queues

Speaking of queues, two of the resort’s most popular coasters, Expedition Everest and Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster starring the Muppets, offer single-rider line options. Just be forewarned, sometimes single rider lines can be as long – or longer – than the standard queue.

Lightning Lanes!

While multiple Disney coasters are available for the Lightning Lane Multi Pass, only the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, TRON Lightcycle/Run, and Guardians of the Galaxy: Comic Rewind are available as part of the separately purchased individual Lightning Lane Single Pass option.

Let Gravity Do Its Job

Speaking of Expedition Everest, if you’re looking for the best seat on the Animal Kingdom coaster, aim for the front row. It’s certainly the most thrilling seat because of the way it’s pulled backwards by the force of gravity during the backward segment.

Keep Your Bag Safe in Space

If you’re nervous about losing your bag on Space Mountain, loop the bag through your leg as you sit down. Just be warned, don’t let it trip you up when you get up from the ride.

Night Ride

Slinky Dog Dash is one of the most popular rides on Disney property, and it’s even better at night. It’s almost like a whole different attraction thanks to the lights throughout the track, and the even more flames near the lift hill. Plus, if you’re able to time it right, you could get some cool views of the Fantasmic fireworks!

BONUS:

While there are all these hacks are real, one oftentimes-rumored one is indeed fake. There is NO song hack for Cosmic Rewind to ensure a rider gets a specific song. The selection is randomized per ride, and there’s no method for selecting a song or counting coaster cars to get a specific track.
