The Disney World Hotel Perk We’re Getting Worried About

Since the Contemporary and Polynesian Resort opened with Walt Disney World on opening day in 1971, Disney hotel guests have had access to numerous perks while staying on property, ranging from transportation to dining and park access to refillable mugs.

However, some perks — even popular perks (RIP Magical Express) — have disappeared over the years, and frankly, there are a couple right now that we’re worried may disappear soon… and another we fear is never coming back.

The first on our mind is Early Entry.

Now, we can hear your eyes rolling, as it arguably seems unlikely that Disney would get rid of Early Entry. After all, in recent years,  the 30-minute period each morning when guests of Disney resorts and other select hotels can access each of the theme parks prior to the general public has been one of Disney World’s most popular perks for years. However, one only needs to look across the country to see how Disney may cut it.

As of this past January, Disney eliminated Early Entry at the Disneyland Resort. Now, hotel guests instead receive one Lightning Lane pass for any Multi-Pass eligible attraction per trip. This pass can only be used ONCE per length of stay per person, and cannot be used on Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland or Radiator Springs Racers in Disney California Adventure, since both are Single Pass rides.

So, could Disney take the same approach at Disney World? It’s possible, though we should note that there are many more hotel rooms at Walt Disney World than there are at the Disneyland Resort, perhaps making the Lightning Lane option less likely. However, there are other potential changes the company could make, such as altering Early Entry from all perks to one park a day or limiting the perk to certain hotel tiers or packages.

Early Entry isn’t the only perk we’re worried about, however, as we have a feeling that third-party grocery delivery services like Amazon Fresh may not be allowed to drop off at hotels. Now, we have to stress that, as of now, these delivery services are still allowed. However, in recent months, Disney has heavily enforced their longtime rules regarding third-party services, including home bakes, door decorating, in-room babysitting, and photographers.

Finally, this last perk has been gone for years, and we’re STILL missing it. There was a time when you could have anything you bought at Walt Disney World shipped back to the front of the park or even to your hotel room instead of lugging it around the park all day. Those days have been gone for years, however, and don’t seem to be coming back in full anytime soon.
