CONFIRMED: Mark Your Calendar for This Magic Kingdom Parade Change

If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom for the holidays, you’ll want to know about a big parade swap coming this December!

Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade

If you’re visiting Disney World for the holidays, you might notice something a little different on the parade route this year. Disney is shaking up its daytime entertainment in a way that only happens for a short window each December — and trust us, it’s a festive change you’ll want to know about. And with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party officially sold out for the season, this upcoming parade swap is an even bigger deal for those hoping to catch some extra holiday magic.

If you’re heading to Disney World for the holidays, get ready — Magic Kingdom’s daytime entertainment is about to look a whole lot merrier. Beginning December 22nd, the park is temporarily swapping out its everyday parade, Festival of Fantasy, and replacing it with the beloved holiday spectacular, Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade. Traditionally seen during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, this beloved parade steps into the spotlight for daytime visitors for a limited-time each year… and that time is almost here.

Mickey’s Once Upon A Christmastime Parade

From December 22nd through December 31st, you’ll be able to catch Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade twice daily at 12 PM and 3 PM. That means you won’t need a special after-hours event ticket to enjoy all the festive floats, toy soldiers, dancing gingerbread men, and holiday-clad Disney characters that make this parade such a seasonal favorite. If you’re visiting Magic Kingdom during these dates, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss.

Goofy!

This parade change is a big deal for holiday travelers because Festival of Fantasy (Magic Kingdom’s usual afternoon parade) takes a brief winter break during this period. And while Festival of Fantasy will return in the new year, the Christmastime Parade is a limited offering. The only other way to see it is by attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, so this daytime window gives all park visitors a chance to experience the holiday magic with regular admission.

SANTA!!

So what can you expect from Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade? Picture Main Street, U.S.A., filled with the scent of peppermint, cheerful music streaming overhead, and a procession of some of the most whimsical holiday floats Disney has ever created. Classic Disney characters make appearances in their festive best, from Mickey and Minnie leading the fun to Goofy, Chip ’n’ Dale, and even the iconic marching toy soldiers, who remain a fan-favorite year after year.

And of course, no Christmas parade would be complete without Santa himself closing things out in spectacular fashion. For those who have only seen Festival of Fantasy, this parade brings a very different tone — less fantasy adventure and more heartwarming holiday cheer. The music is joyful and nostalgic, and the atmosphere feels a bit like stepping into a Christmas card brought to life. It’s high-energy, full of moving pieces and performers, and just long enough to feel satisfying without taking a huge chunk out of your day.

There are even princesses!

If you’re planning to watch the limited-run of Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade, a little strategy goes a long way! Crowds during Christmas week are some of the heaviest of the entire year, and these performances draw big attendance. Arriving early is essential if you want a prime viewing spot along the parade route. Main Street offers the best photo ops, but Frontierland and Liberty Square generally fill up a bit slower and provide great visibility. Keep in mind that the 12 PM showing happens during peak lunchtime, so competing with restaurant crowds can also impact your timing.

It’s also smart to consider mobility needs, stroller parking, and shade — all factors that can influence where you’ll want to camp out. If you’re traveling with little ones, the earlier daytime performance may be easier to manage before afternoon fatigue and routine nap time set in. But no matter which showing you choose, the holiday atmosphere truly transforms the entire park.

Happy Holidays!

Festival of Fantasy will return soon enough — but soon, Magic Kingdom is ready to bring the holly, jolly spirit all day long. If you’re visiting in late December, grab your spot, grab your hot cocoa, and get ready to end 2025 with a little extra sparkle!

We’ll be out on the first day of the parade’s daytime performances this year, bringing you even more Disney news, updates, tips, and more! Be sure you’re following along with us right here at AllEars — why? Because we’re serious about fun!
