If there’s one thing we’ve learned from Disney fans, it’s that no topic is too small to spark a massive debate (especially when it comes to snacks).
We can tell how Emma feels about turkey legs…
Everyone has that one treat they swear by, that one snack they avoid at all costs, and that one food hill they’re willing to die on in the name of Disney culinary justice. So naturally, when we took to Facebook and asked you for your thoughts, well, the comments section lit up like Main Street during the holidays. And wow…you all had THOUGHTS.
As we said, we reached out to you on Facebook and Instagram to ask: “Which Disney World snack is totally overhyped, and what deserves way more love instead?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!
What do you think?
But one snack rose above the rest in the controversy rankings. Maybe “rose above” isn’t the right phrase, more like lumbered, glistened, and smoked its way to the top. Yes. We’re talking about the infamous turkey leg.
Now, let’s go over some of your top responses!
“…just disturbing to watch…”
Kicking us off, we’ve got Pam, who didn’t hold back with,
“Turkey leg-just disturbing to watch people gnaw on those things!”
The infamous turkey leg
Honestly, this is a sentiment we hear a lot. There’s something about watching someone tackle a giant medieval-style hunk of meat at 10AM on a humid Florida morning that just hits…different. Some folks are all-in on the spectacle. Others? They’re looking away like they’ve accidentally wandered into a Renaissance Faire eating competition.
“It’s the turkey leg for me…”
Next up, Reagan shared a whole turkey leg journey:
“It’s the turkey leg for me. I remember as a kid just wanting to try it, but always being to full from all the other treats my parents would buy. My husband and I took our kiddos a few years ago and I finally got to one… it just wasn’t it. My kids loved it though.”

Sometimes dreams don’t quite match reality, and in this case, the nostalgia didn’t survive the first bite. Though props to her kids for being braver than most adults.
“Turkey leg…tastes like smoked ham to me.”
Then there’s Will, who said exactly what many people think but rarely say out loud:
“Turkey leg. Sorry fans, it tastes like smoked ham to me.”
Turkey Leg from Liberty Square Market
If you’ve ever bitten into one expecting classic roasted turkey vibes only to be greeted by that intense, smoky, almost ham-like flavor…you’re not alone. The turkey leg has a way of surprising people, and not always in the way they expect.
“…no thanks.”
Donna kept it short and to the point with,
“The giant turkey legs – no thanks.”
Turkey leg anyone?
And honestly? This might be the most relatable take of all. Not passionate hatred. Not unshakeable loyalty. Just a gentle, polite “absolutely not.”
“Hot and cold at the same time…”
Dianne had quite an experience:
“Oh yeah, tried the turkey leg and just remember it being hot and cold at the same time, super greasy and my husband and I being sick afterwards.”
Turkey leg
If a food arrives at multiple temperatures simultaneously, that’s usually a sign to back away slowly. And if it results in both you and your husband tapping out afterward? Yeah…that’s probably going on the “never again” list.
“Those are just gross.”
Marcy summed up what many, many people were thinking with,
“The turkey legs. I’m typically a ‘don’t yuck someone’s yum’ kind of gal, but those are just gross.”
A bite out of the turkey leg
When a self-declared “don’t yuck someone’s yum” person finally yucks a yum, you know the situation is dire.
“It’s not appetizing looking.”
And finally, Julie confessed,
“I’ve never tried the turkey leg, but it’s not appetizing looking.”
Turkey leg
Honestly? Fair. Whether you think it’s delicious or not, the turkey leg is an intense visual. Smoky. Massive. Shiny. Kind of prehistoric. It’s giving “Flintstones picnic,” and some people just aren’t ready for that level of commitment.
Turkey Leg
So what does all this mean? After scrolling through tons of comments, one thing is clear: the turkey leg remains the most controversial snack in Disney World. For some fans, it’s iconic, satisfying, and the perfect fuel for a day in the parks. For others…it’s the one treat they desperately wish had stayed in 1990s Disney. But whether you love them, loathe them, or simply find them “disturbing to watch,” the turkey leg debate is clearly far from over.
